His legs looks fatter and heavier here compared to what they look now. Goes to show the physical training he has been through.

@visor What happened to the main thread? :O I didn't know at all

A moderator/admin was cleaning up KM's thread from a spam bot but accidentally deleted the whole thread! But it's currently in the process of slowly being built up from backup.

Even his thread is as arduous as his career(akin to getting deregistered and now rebuilding back the WR points?).... can't help laughing thinking about it yet feeling bad

KM was on a TV show before the Malaysia Masters this year (and before the accident). The youtube video of it is now available. I can pick up some of the material from watching anime (lol). If interested, here's the link:

Looks like he'll be ready according to this report:

He initially returned to training a month after the accident but had to go for a surgery in Tokyo after complaining of having double vision. Fortunately, though, his problem has been fixed.

“He has been training with his club during this period and we’ve been monitoring him. He is in good shape and in fact, he looks more handsome than before, ” said Joo-bong with a smile.

“He took this opportunity during the lockdown to go for a plastic surgery. There are no scars whatsoever on his face.

“He has also been working out. According to our report, he has done well to control his body fat, in fact, his physical condition is better than before.

“He is now just waiting to resume centralised training, ” he said.

“If the situation is okay, our top players will probably start in September.

“Kento may not start by playing in three tournaments in a row, probably it will be the China and Japan Opens but we’ll finalise it all later.”

Yeah, this is actually big for his rehab and return. Like Kuroko mentioned a while back, he has been able to train with his club NTT-East while the rest of the national training centers around the world were closed down due to COVID. None of the Danish players were able to train other than doing physical stuff at home and I'm sure it's a similar situation with other countries (maybe with the exception of China, no one knows how they're training over there hah).

Japan's nationally run training was also not running, but the privately run club/company team system proved to be a big plus - this might give him a jump start for his return that his accident would have otherwise robbed him of.

World champ has 'gold vision' again
    By AFP - June 27, 2020 @ 7:02am
    https://www.nst.com.my/sports/badminton/2020/06/603898/world-champ-has-gold-vision-again

TOKYO: JAPAN'S badminton king Kento Momota said yesterday he had completely recovered from the eye injury caused by a car accident and vowed to bring home the gold at the postponed Tokyo Games.

"I can see without any problem while I'm playing," the World No 1, who underwent surgery for an eye socket fracture in February after the car crash, told reporters.

"I've been able to give 100 per cent in practice," he added.

The accident, which happened hours after the 25-year-old won the Malaysia Masters, killed the driver of the vehicle taking him to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

"I want to do my best every day towards the goal" of winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, he said.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by one year — unprecedented in peace-time.

The Games are now scheduled to begin on July 23 next year — though they will still be known as the 2020 Games — but medical experts have raised concerns the delay is not long enough to contain the virus and hold the event safely.

    ==============================================

"I don't want to make excuses, saying I cannot do well because this or that happened."

Coronavirus did affect his training but he said he took the time to analyse his game and work on some weak points.

"I think I can improve my technique. I want to brush up my attacking skills."

In March, Momota said his "spirit was almost broken" after the accident and that the recovery process had been difficult.

He also suffered cuts and heavy bruising after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a lorry.-- AFP

*A good news for world number to back into good shape gradually when the tour is restarted.:)
