If some people don't follow it, I think this lockdown period will extend for 1-1.5 more months. If the situation gets out of control here, casualties will be HUGE in number.
Was reading how the social structure at home leads India to be very high risk of exploding transmission. Many households have three generations living under one roof in high density. Earlier lockdown is better for the country given the scenes seen in other advanced economies.
Generally, for viruses medicine won't work .vaccine is only hope for non-infected people. We can't deal with Ayurveda for now. only social distance is best option
1.3 billion population. Population density too high here. Lockdown is the only option. Plus healthcare facilities/infrastructure not at all sufficient/adequate for population. I can't imagine the worst case scenario. But I read somewhere if this goes out of hand 2M casualties will be here.
The administration was given no time to plan for the lockdown and gaping holes have emerged. 1/3 of India has migrant workers who are without jobs, money, transport. The migrant workers have decided to head to their homes on foot which are from 100km to 800km away. The movement of essentials in trucks is stuck at borders with the police controlling movement. This has hit all levels of society from poor people to rich. The lockdown appears to be a huge gamble. Many people will die of starvation even if the virus doesn't get them.
Ration shops are opened. Delhi govt has ensured all possible relief in terms of delivery of essential commodities. Don't know much about other state governments. Promises have been made. Implementation has always been where we have lacked. If lockdown didn't happen, the situation would have been much worse. I can only pray, people get essential commodities especially rural and poor people.

https://www.firstpost.com/health/co...l-solutions-to-restart-badminton-8356071.html EXCERPTS: Coronavirus Outbreak: India coach Pullela Gopichand urges BWF to come up with 'radical solutions' to restart badminton "BWF should talk to health people and revise the format itself, the tournament structure itself and do whatever is required," Gopichand told PTI. "My view is if something radical needs to be done, then let's do it and let's go ahead with the sport," he said. In a bid to salvage the international circuit, the governing body had postponed important events such as the Thomas and Uber Cup Final (3-11 October), besides asking for fresh slots from respective countries, including India, to conduct the suspended Olympic qualifiers. "My concern is that, you are trying to shift the dates, probably there needs to be a change in thinking. If the same thing continues, and the whole entourage is travelling again to different countries then it is again risking players," Gopichand said. Shuttlers travel almost every week to a new tournament during the badminton season. Gopichand said this should change. "I would say, planning of the tournaments has to be such that players can actually stay at one place and play more number of tournaments. It could be the next normal," he said. Gopichand believes one way of going about things is to segregate the players on the basis of their respective formats — men's singles, women's singles and doubles — and then conducting tournaments in three different countries simultaneously. "If there are no spectators, and it is a TV and internet sport then how does it matter whether you are conducting it in three different places, just lock the players in one place for three weeks. Instead of doing the tournaments say Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore in three different places, do it in one place," he said. "You give men's singles to one country, give women's singles to one country and doubles to one country. So parallelly three tournaments can happen. In this way, players will not have to travel so much, they can be quarantined," he said. "If it is a draw of 32, it is only 16 matches per day. We can operate just two courts maximum, so that you don't have to mix with many players. "So basically, if you really have to move, you probably have to look at a radical change in format," he explained.
Interesting suggestions. But I wonder if MS, WS and Doubles players are kept in three different countries then what will be the name for the tournaments conducted ? Suggestions look viable in ideal world but there are many complications.
