From what I saw yesterday, LS can defeat CL, even KS could have defeated him if it wasn't for too many errors.
I think CL with his medium/less than medium defence is enough to sustain Lakshya attack. Early days for Lakshya, can't say he would have beaten CL. For now, even taking a game off top 10 players is a win for him. Whatever be the result , I just want him to give his best against top opponents.
Finally LS show up in the senior circuit. Let's start to talk about him. Forget what he achieved at junior level. The real badminton world starts now for him. Hope to see him consistently in 2020. If he can take a game of VA. That's a good start for him.
LS has to be clever in his attack, he need to choose smartly on when to attack, otherwise you are right - if LS attacks blindly then CL's defence can punish him.
LS may have lost the match but he sure won hearts. Surprised to see his attack could actually penetrate VA. Come on LS.
I just feel his form isn't as good as other indian players in their prime, and yeah he is 18 yrs old so well can't complain about. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
I meant form as in playstyle (midair form, form while playing shots etc), not consistency Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Yeah he need to improve on that, esp jump smashes and landing after a jump smash, he seem very unstable at that.
Yep that is what I wanted to point out. His form is not that great or fluid, but atleast he is performing better than his seniors, we will have to just wait for now. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Yeahh, in Austria IC he was no1 seed and lost to unseeded Danish player in three games in round 1. In January, he didn't play that well in IM and MM. This was his first AE and he'll learn from it. For now , we have to wait and hope he keeps on improving.
Finally got around to watching the match against Axelsen. There are so many things to like about LS, so I'll just pick my favourites. 1. Attitude Calm, collected, no screaming, posturing, showmanship. Personal preference of mine, I admit, but to me that's an instantly supportable player. I think it will also help putting the work in to get better, very similar to LZJ who comes across the same way and has improved his game dramatically in the past few years, despite never being such an extreme talent like Lakshya Sen. 2. Physicality This a big statement, but his movement reminds me very much of LCW and LD. He has the same calm, sometimes even slow-looking movement when he doesn't need to be fast (compare to hectic Axelsen), but can explode into top gear at an instant. Imo that is both the most economical way to play and also the hardest to counter for opponents. Which leads me to 3. Overhead I just love the way his shots can look so similar up to the very last moment due to his wrist-action style. At times it is an ultra-quickly released longline smash, sometimes it is a sliced cross drop shot and both shots look the same. He caught Axelsen off guard with that so many times. Even more excited about him than before, I hope they find the right mixture of tournaments for him so that he gain confidence for the 500+ by winning lower tiers.
I noticed some positive changes in Lakshya's style of play in the match against Christo. Lakshya is faster. Movement wise he has improved. Now he's more agile and alert. Earlier he used to be like in relaxed position (as in he'll win the points definitely) . He has started using more drops than before but still not many drops required in top top level. He has learnt how to change the pace but can do better Defence too was solid.
