Hi All: I have been searching the forum to see if there is any discussion on which socks to wear, and I could not find any. Is there any recommendation among the branded socks (e.g YY, Victor, LN) where you can feel the difference? I am more leaning toward thick socks, but looking for cooler feels. Some regular socks that I have been looking are either not thick enough and letting my feet slides after jumps and lunges, or too thick and make my feet feel like they are standing on hot sand Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I have tried out a lot (Yonex, Adidas, Victor...) and now only use the Karakal X4 Technical Ankle Sock. They fit perfectly, don't slip through knobs, and the crucial areas are stronger. The price is higher, but they last very long! https://www.karakal.com/clothing/sports-socks/karakal-mens-x4-technical-ankle-sock-black
If you want thicker feeling then try 2 pairs of socks. I wear cheap thin low or ankle socks with typical sports socks on top. Currently using a choice of Head or Yonex socks on top which are very similar, with some cushioning, not too thick, well ventilated. The ankle socks are just thin enough to have little effect. I no longer get any blisters which was the reason for switching to 2 pairs. Obviously, I play in a hall with a much lower ambient temperature. Hot feet is luxury I can only dream of at the moment.
Thanks guys.. will try it. @BadBadmintonPlayer unfortunately that brand is not too popular here (except for grips) so I will have to look into it some place else
Thick cotton socks provide good sweat absorption, comfort and protection. I try to avoid polyester socks as they tend to be slippery. I use cotton only socks from Yonex and 3 pair last around 9 months with 10 hours of play per week. I tried the Victor ones and they didn't last more than 3 months.
