stiffer than a cardboard...looked liked a grandpa who lost his way in the park and ended up playing Axelsen .
Honestly, watching his match against Axelsen was frustrating. To be frank, he was playing terribly. Taking very little initiative, rallying around. LD has gone from China no. 2 to no. 4 on the Race to Tokyo. Oh well, let's see what he does next. This is more likely than not his very last year. Next stop, Bangkok. Ng Ka Long Angus has always been a tough opponent for him. Draws look decent, we can expect a semi final finish if he doesn't crash out in round one. It's now or never. Jia you.
A third consecutive first round loss. After playing so well in the first game, very nice smashes, he messed up at the end to lose 18-21. The second was full of unforced errors, one after the other and a struggle to catch up from that. Lin Dan, is it so hard to win a single match?
It becomes harder and harder for Lin Dan to realize his 5th Olympic dream, BWF Tokyo Race 2020 latest update (21st January) : Meanwhile Shi Yuqi breaks top 16 this week.
At least, next tournament Lin Dan is SEEDED 8th (yep, it's been a long time since that has happened). There are still many strong competitors like Viktor Axelsen, not going to be easy, but wishing him better luck I guess.
Spain Masters super 300. This is m&q list 1. He mistook m&q for seeding. https://extranet.bwfbadminton.com/d...Barcelona Spain Masters 2020 _ MQ Ver. 1.xlsx
The Wikipedia page has the seedings. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Spain_Masters Also, the M and Q list is ordered by World Ranking, so the top 8 will be seeded.
Here is the link: https://corporate.bwfbadminton.com/events/calendar/ Entry Deadline: 14/01/2020 World Ranking Date: 14/01/2020 M & Q Report: 17/01/2020 Seeding Date: 21/01/2020 Seeding Published: 24/01/2020 Withdrawal Deadline: 27/01/2020 Draw Date: 28/01/2020 Tournament Link: Click Here Updated date: 22/01/2020 Seeding publish date is 24/01/2020. Not denying. I'm just stating seeding list and m&q list are different.
Anyways, with a seeding he won't have to face someone like Ng Ka Long Angus or Viktor Axelsen. He needs to win at least a couple tournaments now if he wants to make it to the Olympics.
It's clear Lin Dan is carrying on out of contractual obligations with Yonex, the 10-year multimillion-dollar contract that lasts until 2024 (irrc). So willy-nilly he has to keep trying to qualify for Tokyo 2020, whether he succeeds or not is another question. As of now, it's becoming quite obvious that he's not going to make it to Tokyo 2020. Just wondering what other plans he has in mind next when the deadline arrives for the OG QF period. Let's wait and see.
i would expect it to be 99% p.r.: appearances, autographs, interviews, meet and greets, clinics for kids, etc.

Yes, I'm sure it includes all these as you've listed but still contractual obligations cannot be taken lightly, it's legally binding, assuming it's stipulated in the contract. Of course, without these reasons or motivations you mentioned, it's really too hard to do, what with one-round trip after another from tournament to tournament.
