LYD serves bad for 1.5 games against Fajri but in G2 Fajri cant take advantage. Being off form for the whole of last year, if LYD/KGJ wins, this can already be the top 5 upset victory of the year. Remember LeeCY also won as PFQ in HKO, but that was homeground and the seed 1 didnt play. This upset will be no less than that despite he being LYD.
I think it's time we shouldn't be expecting anything from LYD, LD now that they are well past their prime. A win is a bonus for us. I think if he wins tomorrow, this will be really special for him even though he has countless titles.
It will be special for the fans too, It has been 3+ long years. Of course they won GPG, but that feels different. Due to many tournaments, even the S500 feels a bit off as SS but as benefit of the doubt , its still SS because most best players played. MD is such tactical masterpiece, a chess match + competitve competitors = Fire. No need much stamina compared to MS WS or WD.
From the picture above , seem racket similar to Nanoflare 700 red , 4U . https://yumo.ca/products/yonex-nanoflare-700-red
LYD past his prime? For MD there is no past prime. Look at BOE, Hendra or Ahsan. They're are older than LYD. MS there is a age factor. LD yes past his prime. LYD easily can play another 10 years if he wants as long he keep fit. MS and MD are totally different ball game.
What a win, I really didn't expect that. imo this is their best performance this week, they played pretty well yesterday, but today is even better. though that's probably because li/liu isn't as good as alfian/ardianto yesterday.
They won 21-14 21-16 against li/liu in 40 minutes...typical LYD it's not even a slow hall like in guangzhou or tokyo they played 69 minutes against fajar/rian too in SF.
Also noticed that his body language was way more positive towards Kim than it was in the past towards yoo. They really pushed themselfes today. Nice. Gesendet von meinem Pixel 4 XL mit Tapatalk
As they say people become wise with age. Good to see this from Lee. Always have been a fan of his play but not his attitude.
The latest information from Yonex Korea says he still uses an Astrox 88S but you're right. It certainly does look a lot more like that 700 you linked to.
He still hasn't left his habit of leaving the partner out in cold during celebration. Multiple times I noticed, Kim was trying to celebrate with LYD after winning a point, but our hero was busy in his own world. Play hard. Train harder.
During the match, he still was supportive. After the match, yeahh emotions got the better of our hero
Well, it's quite an achievement following the lack of form they displayed most of last year. So to start the year on a high is definitely a good thing. However lets not get carried away. For those of us who have watched LYD carefully for years, I would say he is still far from his best. He has actually lost not just his speed and dominance at the net but most importantly, his incredible consistency. He never used to make unforced errors. If you watch the matches he played throughout the Malaysian Masters, he was making quite a few, not to mention his awkward and unreliable serve. I do like the way he has changed the way he has played, not sure if this is down to his new coach or just him finally working things out. I like the way he is holding his serve against Li and Liu who are some of the most aggressive receivers, always rushing to attack the serve. He never used to do this and it always played into the hands of rushers. He also mixed up his serve with some flicks, particularly against LYC who doesn't move back very well. But what was really good to see was his smash placement. He was really trying to make each smash count and no longer just playing the useless body smash repeatedly. We all know LYD for his defensive skills, although he still possesses a fantastic defense, its no longer very consistent. He doesn't seem to have the control he used to. He used to annoy opponents with the precision and smoothness of his defensive play, so solid was his defense, it looked like he had no respect for any smashes. But to me, he has lost some of that precision, the feel to control the shuttle perfectly regardless to how hard the smash is hit at him. To some extent, I have to say KGJ was what made the difference. He played very well, although he could still do with a bit more consistency and speed, he played as well as I have ever seen him play, getting some incredible shots back.
He is Back!!! The Legend!!! LYD Crazy defence, Wonderful netplay~ If you enjoy my video, please subscribe my youtube channel Thanks in advance
Lower the background music while in a rally, the sound of rally is much more soothing than the music. But yeah great video mate Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
