I just bought a Wise 2086, and the gripper keeps slipping on BG66U. It doesnt matter if I string at 26 or 30 pound, it keeps slipping. The wise is series 14.

In the manual, there is a instruction on how to tighten the gripper.

There is a setscrew that limits how close the plates can get to each other. I don’t know for sure where it’s located on the V14, but I guess it has to be somewhere around the switch. Mind you that it’s basically only a hole in which you need to insert an Allen key to move the setscrew further in or remove it completely.

If you have the diablo, it also helps to hold the string stronger as it reduces the force in the gripper.

I’ve never used any limit-screw and stringing with aerosonic works without any problems.

The limiting screw is in there by default. On some grippers, it comes with a setting that doesn’t allow the plates to fully close. I have discussed a similar issue with @Tennisman a couple of weeks ago when one of his customers reported a slipping BGAS.
I would make some pictures to show the position of the screw on my V12, but I’m not at home for the next couple of days.

    Edit:
Here’s a pic from the internet. The screw is in that area. Another option so ensure that the plates are fully closing would be to remove that little pin there.

Remove the adjustment screw from the jaws.
I had to do this the very first time I used my WISE and I never had any problems once it was done.

Here’s one...It’s inside that hole where the little pin slides into when you close the gripper!

    This is a V14

It’s there. Definitely. And if you really can’t find it, the remove that little pin that sticks out from the gripper plate. That will have the same effect.

I was having a similar issue with thin strings slipping and all I did was squirt a bit of WD40 between the side gears of the gripper and fixed the issue instantly.
