I was disappointed with Chen Long's match against Ginting. No change in the game plan, not even trying the change of pace to give a better fight. Other than this, my perception was that CL was not in agreement with the coaches instructions before the start of the 2nd game?? It seems the coaches were instructing CL to move Ginting around whereas CL was saying something like the opponent was very fast?? Interesting.
For me, it's not so much who has more resting hours than whether you have enough rest between matches. Then, in that case, the difference only matters if you're a much older player past 30 or you've been so unlucky as to have played round after round of long, grueling three-set matches, say, 3 or 4 days in a row for accumulated fatigue to take its toll somewhat. But that's not within anybody's control. I recall Du Pengyu at the Guangzhou WC'14 where he took on LCW in the semifinals, the 5th round of the six-round event, after having played 4 rounds of successive three-setters, mostly hard-fought. Yet, DPY didn't look to be struggling with fitness or stamina issue and even put up a good fight against LCW by taking one set off him before losing the three-setter.
Me too, what a letdown. Frankly, I'm more interested to hear Li Mao's instructions, if any. Too bad, Li Mao's practice, which he has made clear to CBA, is he won't do any court-side coaching for any players.
I thought he was too patient, only at the 2nd half of the 2nd game he realised he wasn’t getting anywhere so panicked and tried to attack at inopportune times. Sure they were deep and accurate, but the few times he tried to attack those lifts he actually got something going, unlike just rallying and waiting to get smashed. If he plays Ginting like this again their next meeting I’ll be shocked
Gil just said WTZ needs to be admired for his attitude. Really? He needs to be "admired" for trying hard in the most important game of his career?
Yeah! What we had been waiting for, Ginting vs Momota!! At the end of the year! Pheww Hope it delivers tomorrow
I would have preferred to watch Antonsen play Momota again in the semi-finals. WZW, with an injured foot, was not going to beat Momota today.
I would consider Ginting the slight favourite because of the showings here, but then again, Momota proved me wrong so many times. It's no doubt going to be very entertaining, like their matches always are. Even the French Open match was weirdly entertaining. (It has to be said, of course that Ginting is only in the final because the "Dragon" is saving himself for the Olympics.)
Shin Seung Chan technique in smashing is a bit ....... lacking, isn't it ? Plenty of power, but the placement & steepness, were rather inadequate for her level of badminton playing.
Their matches is always close.. There is almost always deuce / 2 points difference situation whether its in the 3rd game or 2nd game (SO)
And Ginting had always surprised me (80% in bad ways) so many times too. So I am just going to do is to pray that God will save my hai.., I mean, my heart!! tomorrow.
