Errr... no, she actually is #10 in this week's world rankings: Sure, she didn't need to go into the qualifiers due to the protected ranking for the latest tournaments which made the comeback a lot easier.
nope. she wasn't out more than 1 year, which is when you start losing points by not defending them. no points needed protecting. her points dropped from 86,566 to 43,000, ranking dropped from 2 to 26 so she still doesn't have to qualify. it was as if she took a 33 week vacation. her high finishes @ high value tournaments is what kept her in the mix.
4. PLAYER INJURY – MEDICAL EXEMPTION AND PROTECTED RANKING – TOP COMMITTED PLAYERS... read the full statute @ https://extranet.bwfbadminton.com/d...ion 5.3.6 - Player Commitment Regulations.pdf i read this a few times. frankly it's the most vague and inconclusive sports statute i've ever read. what the **** are they protecting exactly?! all it sounds like to me is the athlete is exempt from committing to the minimum # of tournaments, if you're classified as a top committed player. the player will: "...upon return have the right to enter into BWF World Tour Tournaments with the protected ranking position" ummm, ok... so if i got injured while i was #2 with 88,000 points and filed for protection, then in the meantime 3 players passed me, what would my seeding rights be when i return after 4 months? am i treated as a #2 still or a #5 now? because there's a BIG(!) difference in draw advantage. turns out "The protected ranking will not count towards seeding" ... ok, so then what is bwf protecting for me? carolina was #2 when she got injured. 24 players passed her while she was away. sounds like it's only helpful if i'm ranked #28, so i get automatic entry into wt750/1000 and won't have to go through qualifying in wt500 when i return. which would suck for the current #28 or #32 cuz i'd be bumping them down. ha! this is what i feel like bwf is saying to me: "if you're one of our best players and you get hurt because we made you overwork yourself, don't worry... we'll let you come back and go right back to overworking yourself. you're welcome." maybe carolina didn't file because they figured her points were high enough to keep her from dropping too low. also, what's the point of filing if she's not going to be treated like a #2 there are likely other olympic qualifying scenarios considered... too much to type out. anyone else care to read the statute and tell me if i'm interpreting it all wrong?
as far as I understood that weird rule, that's the bottom line. It prevents the pre-injury top stars for having to walk through the mud of low level tournaments and qualifiers.
all this for 2 seconds? 2 seconds could be seen as too short but 2 seconds is the time they need to put u a medal and it will last for eternity just asked a spaniard internet friend, but i forgot to ask what 1988 is abt
this is my guess: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badminton_at_the_1988_Summer_Olympics#Medallists the birth of olympic badminton? https://www.topendsports.com/events/demonstration/badminton.htm. i suppose the ioc liked what they saw in seoul 1988 and it met the full medal sport criteria for inclusion in 1992.
She has a new one: https://www.carolinamarinofficial.com/ Her logo is a lion roaring. Her haters will appreciate...
To be properly official, that website should load with a soundbite of her screaming 3 times at the top of her lungs... Sent from my SM-G965W using Tapatalk
It's apt having "Eye of the Tiger" playing in the background, as Marin does a boxer's stare down on Phittayaporn.
