    Good stringjob is most important.
But can I offer some other racket related services with a string job.
Like grommet checkup & replacement, painting a stencils & few more value added things which the life of the racket or improve the game.

I consider grommet checkup and replacement part of a basic stringjob and will always contact a customer if I think an extra charge is required to replace grommets (full racket regrometting or yonex strips). I would also refuse to string a racket if the customer refuses to change grommets and I feel that the racket could be damaged during the resting.

Offering to stencil for free or having a loyalty scheme could be good for your businees. You could for example offer a free grip, discounted string job, free stringjob or free string upgrade every 10 stringjob.

I offer a free restring if the string goes in their first session. On the rare occasion that the string breaks in the first session it's probably because the string was damaged before or during stringing, or you missed a worn out grommet and the frame cuts into the string, both of which is the responsibility of the stringer. While its possible that it's just a ridiculous mishit (more so at higher tensions), I think that the guarantee of a replacement creates trust and goodwill between you and the customer which is very much worth the cost.

People don't mind paying a little extra if they know their string job is done by someone who actually cares about their string job and wants to help give them the most enjoyable badminton experience possible.

Many people will have a history of trying different stringers who simply don't care and as a result get an inferior string job. Getting a string they didn't ask for, Getting something that feels completely different than the last time, breaking a string on the 2nd rally and finding the stringer will ask full price for a replacement.

If you would ask me what I expect from my stringer(if I didn't do it myself), then it would be to care about the playing experience I have on the court with their string job.

And as a stringer there is little more satisfying than someone doubtfully trusting you with their racket after many previous disappointments with other stringers, and when they finally play with it, getting told that it feels amazing.

From another thread, you have done 4000-5000 racquet restrings...... are you losing customers cuz that's already a lot of racquets.

I was working in another sports shop earlier. 5 years ago I started my own sports shop.
I was getting lot of customer for stringing.
But there was only 1 badminton court in our area. and it was closed because of some violations of building codes.
Now there is no badminton court in our area.
I was stringing around 5 to 6 rackets daily.
Now I am stringing around 2 to 3 rackets.

So I am planning to expand my stringing business to other area. Where I can give some incentives to pickup and delivery person.

But if I am going to other area I need good service and support for the costumers.
That's why I am planning to revamp my stringing business.

that's over the span of 5-8 years. which comes down to less than 20/week. that's quite little for a professional.

Yes this is the average it was very difficult in the beginning. & Last 1 year it is even tougher.

Mean while I started stringing rackets for other sports shop as well.
But there is lot of competition there big sports stores sitting right outside sports complex so it was very difficult to get business.

Plus I have trained staff also who takes care of basic rackets.

We use to string 1 or 2 broken strings also.

So all in all I did not exactly count how many rackets I string but it is surely more than 4k to 5k rackets.

Yes grommet checkup and replacement is very important for the rackets health. Which will solve many problems in future.

I was thinking of spraying some lubricant on the grommet do the friction between string and grommet will reduce.
Has anyone tried this in past?
Will it benefit or make a nuisance?

Is there any way I can estimate the rackets life.
    Or rate the rackets health.

Can we take measurements before and after stringing of length and width & measure the fatigue of previous stringing on rackets.

Just dip your awl tip into a tub of Vaseline before poking it into the grommet - far less mess.

I string coaches free, and in return they refer their students to me.
