I have been using AX coded 3U 88d - don’t ask why on 3U, ended up with it after trading It really takes additional effort on just about anything on attacking (doubles player)- coming from NS9900, but it’s definitely a good racket What I have been really surprised is I never defended better with the 88D then BS12, JS10Q, NS9900. It really has been magical experience for me. Sorta sad that I am trading it away for 99 3U which I hope to sell away. Going Apacs Assailant Pro and Pro Commander due to wanting to avoid getting elbow injuries with stiff rackets (body just isn’t what it used to be), price point and hey KSH SBC lol Tldr; 3U 88D is a monster to tame, you are not missing out at all using 4U

I have been enjoying my nf700 for months. Lightweight and fast. Last night I picked up my ax88s and played a few matches with it. I found my shots with the ax88s easier to control and predict. I also realised how energy sapping the nf700 is despite it being lightweight. I had to put in more effort to whip it. A heavier head racket is more energy efficient. A simple movement and let the momentum take over.
I kind of surprised myself lately using my AX88S 3U more than any of my others, especially more than the N9II and mizuno jpx ltd. I still find the AX88S kind of more maneuverable than any other rackets i've used so far with enough solidity in the head for some attacking shots. Works awesome with zymax 66 firepower at 25. It's happened to me also, normally i use ax88s 3u only when my fitness level at the top. ax88d 3u will be used and alternate the other racket vtzf2 4u or ax88d 4u (unfortunate string still gone). Last session, on the 3rd game, when i know my next opponent partner is weaker than me, i give a try my ax88s 3u (usually only use it on 1st game, when my power and stamina still fresh). Surprisingly i love this racket, feel more manoeuvrable with enough punch compare other racket. Can't wait to try again for the next session, but not sure with the feeling when both of my opponent equal or higher level than me. ##uPDATe : LOL... it's really doesn't work when i play double with higher level than me (junior coach), ax88s 3U feel like training racket, there's no maneuverable at all.
Erm may I ask what racket were u using previously? I'm using even balance 3u and am considering whether to make the switch. Ax88s the same head weight as ax88d but just more flexible??
No mate, 88D is head heavier than 88S, for stiffness if I really have to pin point then 88D is slightly stiffer. The differences among S and D from my personal experience is, 88D feels much more boxy and robust, you can definitely feel the head heaviness of 88D is more noticeable, while 88S is being more manoeuvring, quicker and sharp, talking about 3u here...
Ah I see, so if I'm coming from a 3u even balance mid stiff will 88s be difficult for me to use? Also should I go along 3u or 4u for 88a. Thanks for the advice!
Well, everybody has their own feedback and opinion, who knows maybe you get a heavier version of 88S, but speaking from my side that was how i felt with my own rackets and I shall not give any more comment about 88D because I'd sold it as the D giving lots of hard time to me in fast pace doubles games.
I had 88s and 88d too, both in 3u. It’s not even balance but the less hh racket in 3u. I suggest you to buy 4u. If you have a good technique and strong arm, go try 3u.
What was your previous racket? if that case the only thing you might want to reconsider is the head weight, mind you 88S is not a even balance racket ya, it is head heavy one but still not reaching to the extend of hardcore rackets like AX99, ZF2 and LDF etc.. For stiffness it have to depends on yourself but I find it no problem switching from N9ii to 88S, all you need is to spend some time for adjusting a new racket, if you feel a little bit demanding in beginning. I never play 4u before so honestly I got no idea. Good luck in searching your new racket, hope this helps
