Jonatan Christie would have done well against another MS player. PV Sindhu shows she is a big match player and gets India another WS medal. Tai Tzu Ying was unlucky to face a top 5 player in QF, should have been in semis or final.
Well JC wouldnt have beaten KM anyway so dont even dream of the Medal. Honestly if he can , he should win SS titles. He cant proof anything. At least Ginting has 3 titles.
My bet is Momota vs Antonsen. If Antonsen plays close to his best he should be able to beat both Chen Long and Chou Tien Chen, but that's a big if. Chen Long yesterday almost lost to opponent with nonexisting attack.
Wow! Just Wow! Sai, I can't believe it. You have done it! The first Indian MS since Prakash Padukone to win a WC medal. Tomorrow beat K.Momota and go one better! Also, happy for Sindhu. The only other WS to have won 5 WC medal is Zhang Ning. Amazing. We have been medaling at annual BWF major events since 2011. We kept that trend alive. And since 2015 we have got at least a silver. I am hoping that at least one of the 2 will make it to finals to keep that trend alive as well.
Could be a late bloomer like Chou Tien Chen -- heavier set or slower guys take more time to develop their muscles and build on their advantage; and never mind China's obsession with the ''Lin Dan/ Zhang Ning'' proportions, badminton can really be played by all kinds of builds...
Tai Tzu Ying has been so good at what she does (& No.1 for so long) that she never really has to ''develop'' any set of skills or strategies -- that's why WS in the last few years has been a ''scissors-paper-stone'' game; i.e. apart from who has the better form, it really depends which style of play meets up with which other style of play... So I'm glad Sindhu has a new Korean coach who's teaching her to handle longer rallies and different situations.
I thought the same thing about Chou at 27 -- after he has been hovering outside the top 10 for years...
Sindhu has added some new variations that she has forgotten to use her main weapon smash. Not saying that she'll always win by playing smashes, but isn't it better to play your A game.
That squatting position to receive a net put-away can be dangerous, the shuttle might hit your face , worse,the eye.
I don't think today's match was a fair footage to analyse PVS's improvements or form tbh In game1 she was destroyed just like TTY has done ever since Rio, and it's almost as if PVS accepted the domination. In G2 and G3 it was all about her will to stay there, and to be honest TTY's fragility. She won many points by her usual agressive game, from TTY's errors even more. As much as I am in awe with how PVS carried herself and her body language throughout the G2 and 3, it's almost as if TTY lost the match. Yes, most players won't be able to push her in her fragile corner and stretch her enough to break, kudos to PVS, but it was TTY's match and medal to loose and loose she did.
