It's better for world number one and hot favourite Kento Momota to pull out, preparing for the biggest one. With Momota out of competition, chance for others to hunt MS title. Subankar Dey marches to second round automatically, India makes strong presence in MS department here, no less than seven players in opening round spearheaded by Kidambi Srikanth.

Men's doubles notices a big upset, title contenders and two-time World Champions Ahsan/Setiawan must ended their campaign early, too bad they wasted good lead in deciding game, 14-7 then lost with very slim margin, 21-23 to Malaysian duo Ong YS/Teo EY. Indonesia still has two pairs to be reckoned, formidable Minions who demolish former All England champions Ivanov/Sozonov, also Alfian/Ardianto make it through into last sixteen after take revenge over Hoki/Kobayashi, 22-20 / 21-19.

Why did she perform a high serve? Anyone knows the reason? That was pretty surprising and a total miss. o_O

BH short serve sucked, FH short serve also sucked. BH flick serve is dangerous because Yonemoto couldn't cover her like Mayu Matsumoto (for Wakana) and Ayaka Takahashi (for Misaki), then FH high serve was the safest choice I guess

Nishimoto didn't use z speed, it could be an advance. Let's see how far he goes.

Ren Pengbo came close to stopping Srikanth, couldn't hold on to his lead in G3 to lose it in the end. Perhaps, having to play two matches yesterday in the qualies took a bit of a toll on him.

Suppanyu retired? Sorry,as I was away briefly to attend to something, was Suppanyu injured?

Actually, I originally feared it was Lin Dan who retired injured when I last checked the Livescore and found nothing on Ct1.
