I've previous had a 4U TK6000, which I quite enjoyed, before I moved on. Probably one of those rackets I should've kept instead of selling, so I've got something to always compare with. If I go back to my N9ii, every shot apart from the overhead smash, doesn't feel as solid. I'm not sure if this is a speed vs box frame issue, the glassy feeling that other people have felt from the Onigiri or just Victor's more direct feeling.
I personally happened to hate the Astrox 77, probably one of my most hated rackets of all time. For some bizarre reasons, I choose to get an 88D. Let's just say this is quickly becoming my favorite racket of all time and I now own 2 in the span of 2 months. For the record, these are all 3U weighted and I personally enjoyed the N9ii when I had the chance to try it. Your experience may differ, I can try and answer some questions if you have any.
Why didn't you just use a chemical paint remover instead of all the sanding? Wouldn't that be a way to avoid removing material accidentally? Tempted to get an 88D 3U and stripping all the paint, not repainting. Black grip, all murdered out.
Tbh I didn't think of it hahahahahaha. Plus I personally like the touch of working with hand tools. The other problem is I have haven't even found the time to continue yet either. If I had my way I would sand blast it off instead. It would give me a better surface to air brush. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
If you can look for the last Legend's Vision exhibition in South Korea. You should be able to see the 88S in pink strings used by LYD. Sent from my SM-T835 using Tapatalk
Quite sad that this racket still sits around the $280 NZD mark locally. If it was priced sharper I'd be keen to buy one myself.
Sadly prices won't be dropping anytime soon. The popularity of both models has probably assured that.. Especially here in South East Asia.. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Prices for both AX88 already dropped here in Vietnam from $160 to $135 so there is hope. I just got an 88D 4u and I like it way more than expected
That's nice to know. Sadly AFAIK in SG and our neighbours the prices have dipped slightly since launch but they're holding strong right now... Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Hmmm I can't say similar since I own both.. But I don't play with them very often either.. So far for me at least I've found the 4U 88D has slightly better speed, a more solid feel, and about comparable amounts of power. The stiffer shaft is a plus too. More accurate hit placement from my experience. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
That's an interesting experience. I didn't feel that thanks to the weight difference between the 3U and 4U Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
I have both the 88S and 88D in 3U but was just wondering if the 88D4U would somehow be like a nice combined version of the 88S & 88D3Us, faster but still beefy. IME, speed wise, I can't seem to feel much difference between the 88S & 88D even when I play front court and on fast exchanges. But smash wise, I can say I like the 88D more. So I thought maybe 88D4U might add a few more speed but without losing the beefier than 88S 3U quality. Sent from my JSN-L22 using Tapatalk
My friend has the 3U 88S while I have the 4U 88D. From playing a game with his racket, I found that for me, my racket had the best compromises for me. Fast in defense and counterattack, yet more powerful from the back court in clears and smashes. Touch and feel is very similar. Finally, I'm not that tall at 168cm with only a so so reach, hence I ruled out the 88S since it's 5mm shorter in length than 88D. Sent from my SM-G965W using Tapatalk
Hi guys, which one do you recommend Astrox 88S 3U or 4U for beginner and double. Mostly in front. Does 3U and 4U makes big different and which one do you prefer and why? Thanks.
