I can imagine, if it were in Dan playing, he'd be playing so many clears and be smashed left, right and center by his opponent.
He said in an interview, despite having won a GP level tournament last year (the only other guy who won tournament was Sameer verma for india), he was neglected in the PBL auction. He has some Denmark family where he use to stay as guest and participating in european tournaments.
The way Dey played against Chen Long, despite defeat , is proof that his victory over Jonatan Christie is no fluke.
To be frank, I somehow feel that most of the top players here are not fully into this low-level tournament, the fourth in the European series in as many weeks, and that provides an opportunity for the lower-ranked players to make the most of it, and, hopefully, catch the fancied opponents by surprise, generally speaking.
Pity, Sir. Dey is past that age where he can hone his skills. Due to negligence by association and different academies, he's been left to play on his own. I'm grateful to Danes to have Dey stay there and give him support . If Dey was nurtured by the association, he could have done better. Not everyone is like Beiwen Zhang and Li Michelle who are successful players and are high ranked. Though these two players come from those countries where badminton isn't that popular. But here in India, badminton is getting popular day by day and have resources (mainly Gopichand Academy and Padukone Academy ) to train and give guidance to players like Subhankar Dey.
Dey is still only 25 years old, don't let him go to waste, BAI should seriously consider taking him in, my honest opinion.
There was a very very suspicious betting movement for Li/ Zheng against Chen/ Jia today. I'm not saying this match was fixed but this is incredibly strange to see (never happens in legitimate matches) , and low and behold Li/ Zheng are about to win the match here. It would be sad if China were arranging games again. For anyone who doesn't understand betting, Li/ Zheng's percentage chance of winning the match increased from 28% to 75% https://www.oddsportal.com/badminto...ngchen-jia-yifan-li-wenmei-zheng-yu-Sdo3dXsd/
