Hey guys, anyone tried these shuttlecocks? My local club started using them so I might post a review in a few days. Cheers, Azchuah1
Sorry for the late response! I'll post a full review in a few days. I paid $28 AUD (~20 USD?) + Shipping for a tube but the club paid around $25.60 AUD (~18 USD?) for a box of 50. The shuttles are really good though, honestly easily as good as or better than aeroplane black but better in terms of durability and freshness of the feathers. Lasted around 4.5 games?
In my experience in Australia, AS40 isn't regularly stocked for clubs. Most clubs people can't really afford it? but ill try give my closest comparison with HA-950. In my eyes I'd say the HA-950 durability was very close if not equal to them. I think it's because the feathers were really fresh and firm. The ha-950 shuttles averaged about 4-4.5 games which is a really pleasant surpise. If price wasn't a factor, then I'd say the hit feeling and elasticity of the as40 is slightly better, but I think its relatively hard to notice if you dont play at an expert level. I mean, the pros are using this so maybe there's a more immediate difference to them. Durability for As40 maybe a tad better, but I think the HA-950 definitely held its ground here. I suspect that since its harder to clear out more boxes of pricey as-40s (smaller customer base maybe?) the durability fades a bit since the feathers get brittle if they sit around for a long time. With the HA-950, feeling on impact of the racket is still very good, you get a kind of elastic? feeling when you hit it. I did notice it is slightly less elastic impact feel than the as40, but still very good and viable for clubs who compete with high standards. (I use bg-80 at 28 lbs.) IllI have some pictures and a full review up soon, might cut open a few too.
