Guys, is the 3U 88d a potential replacement to the classic 3U vt80? How does the 3U 88d compare to it?
Bit the bullet and got myself a 4U 88D 90 gram after strung with BG66 UM and yonex super grap. The store had 2 88D and I picked the one that feels more HH
Well since I'm such a happy owner of the 88d, I couldn't stand the fact that I didn't have a backup racket with the same specs, so I got myself a second one this week. Both are currently strung with Zymax 69F @ 22 lbs and I like it a lot.
I have been using my 4U Astrox 88s for quite a while now and it has been really quick and rapid. But coming from Duora Z-Strike, the smash and clears seem to be a bit slower and weaker. It also takes more power to hit clear even though I used 66ultimax on both rackets. Any suggestions?
Maybe you should try aerosonic at 26 lbs instead of 66UM. If that still doesn't work, you should re-look at improving your technique
Step 1. Put it up on Buy and Sell forum to sell. Step 2. While you're already there, search around on Buy and Sell forum for used 3U 88S or 4U 88D. Or get new ones... Sent from my SM-G965W using Tapatalk
Had 2 sessions so far with my 4U 88D and I'm satisfied with it The defense is definitely harder to do compared to 3U balanced racket but power shots is just much easier to do. Swing weight feels similar to 3U balanced racket but i can always tell where the head is unlike before. The stiffer shaft also makes everything more predictable and the racket moves in one straight piece. Maybe it's just my honeymoon period I strung it on BG66UM at 24/26 although I think it's probably on high 22 / low 23 now
I had both AX77 and AX88D 4U with NBG95 11kgs stringing I could say the AX88D is head heavier and a litte bit stiff than AX77
Hi everyone I just read all the 126 previous pages (and get the hair dryer tip to ungrip easily, thx!) unfortunately, i didnt see anyone replacing a nanoray800 for astrox88. i used it for years now, learn a lot how to drive and play midcourt. i play mostly in men double (front court, hey nr800 !) and mix. but i’d like to change and have better power in smash while not losing too much in maneuvrability. i was wondering between 88s and duo10 maybe some of you could give me some advice ?
I'm with off bad on this one. Try an NR900. If your technique is there you will effectively be able to trade off a bit of maneuverability for better power. Otherwise I think the DUO10 would be a better transition compared to the AX88S. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
why do you think duo10 would be better for transition than ax88s ? i cant try before buying, sadly for nr900 i didnt have a crush on it ! Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk
Anyone with an ax88d able to measure the frame width at widest part? My strung 88d is 198mm, 25x26 lb...wondering if this is the same as an unstrung astrox.
Similar stiffness. The frame profile as well. But more even balanced weight distribution compared to head light weight distribution of the NR800. You should get what you're looking for without a huge change in familiarity. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
Need a second opinion on this. I'm currently going through a head-heavy 4U phrase and am considering the 88D as my next step in testing. Currently enjoying an Onigiri, so much that my previous main, N9II, is feeling very alien to me now. So the main question I have is if I didn't get on with the 77, what's the chances that I'll dislike 88D as well. Not sure on the specifics of why the 77 didn't work for me. I even brought 2 of them, convinced it was going to be my next main.
Interesting... I’ve been wanting to try the Onigiri, what made you go with that over N9ii? For me the 4U ax77 felt to light, but I also want to find a quick, solid and powerful 4U racket.
Isn't 4u zf2 fast solid and powerful? It feels that way to me 4u ax99 should come close to that also (probably less solid and slower)
Because a 4u ax77 is a wimpy strand of noodle whose swing weight is the SAME as a NANOFLARE 700 in 4u. And its a bloody macaroni to boot. Shaft not as stiff, head not as heavy, hollow feeling (same emptiness that plagued the 70etn and 70 4u before it as well, its the ax77’s predecessors anyway) If you play a level anywhere beyond panhandle and picking up shuttles you’d be able to tell that the head heavy series 7’s need to be 3u for some/any punch anyway. Real men use 3u. (Head heavy YY series with number 7, that is) AX88D, on the other hand, is a good ol’ mate VT80 who went for Super Soldier serum and came back with NAMD and RGS stuck up it’s ass. So... yeah. You get the Tokyo drift (japan company yy LEL) *psssst @badmintony since this way of typing tickles you.....*
