Can someone explain the logic of these markers near doubles service line...these appear on synthetic mats..any clue? Have attached picture for reference Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
To test the speed of a shuttle. Use a full underhand stroke from the back boundary line, a shuttle with correct speed will land between the the two markers you are referring to.
Okay....but two humans with varying "full underhand stroke" for same shuttle will give different results...how does one account for that? Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
Even the same person will hit it differently each time. That's why there are two markers. Your next thought will say that it is very imprecise..... And you would be absolutely correct.
Thx Cheung....you mind read me...am trying to settle a debate with a buddy with a rational argument of why these lines exist...is there any official description (may be with manufacturer? ) Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
it is from the 2016 edition of the rulles but still the same(link at the end) edit: looks like the rules gets reviews every 4 year. 3. TESTING A SHUTTLE FOR SPEED 3.1 To test a shuttle, a player shall use a full underhand stroke which makes contact with the shuttle over the back boundary line. The shuttle shall be hit at an upward angle and in a direction parallel to the side lines. 3.2 A shuttle of correct speed will land not less than 530 mm and not more than 990 mm short of the other back boundary line as in Diagram B. https://system.bwfbadminton.com/documents/folder_1_81/Regulations/Laws/Part II Section 1A - Laws of Badminton - June 2016 Revised 2.pdf
