Shi Yuqi seemed to be going through a bad patch lately.

He played really well in team event and exceptional in WC though. Couldn't really say the same for both of his partner. Looks like he can't manage doing well in both anymore. Too much on him. I am not expecting much from XD but I hope he would do better in MD. That's where the team wants him to excel I think.

They are the 6th at the moment. Not so sure why they are not seeded.

Always see the same reason every time. The loser between momota vs ginting is always stamina issue. Whe ginting beat momota, everyone said he was tired. Now the other way round lol.
I actually think momota played a more tidy game this time. Ginting made more unforced error. And he was surprised when momota changed the pace/ play style at the last 5 points.

Most of everyone is apparently. Had to admit I am not as enthusiastic either lately watching the matches. None of the top players are at their best or even close to be called fit.

Even Morten called it an upset lol.
Maybe at the time the draw was done, their (real) ranking was still out of top 8.

That's just my opinion. I believe Ginting has superior speed over Momota, the moment he slowed down , especially after a long-drawn match in the third set, it's probably due to stamina issue. Once that speed advantage is gone, the more so when he is slower than Momota towards the end of the decider, the latter probably sensed it and exploited it to his advantage which he could owing to his better stamina.

If I may add, Ginting made more unforced errors than Momta in the match, but he could equalize in G2 and almost drew level at 15-16 in the decider, which probably drained him quite a bit, before Momota took the next five points on the trot and the match.

For @Justin L , every Momota win is due to "better stamina". Every loss by CYF, HBJ etc is always because they don't have enough stamina. It's never their playing capabilities.

Overall Momota is still better than Ginting, but ChinaOpen title is sweet. Only that matters, and that is when Ginting beat Momota he needs to end up as Champion. Otherwise, we d always rue that he is the one that beat Momota at AG and its JC that gets the title. To be fair, JC was really lucky to win AsianGames.

As for this title, Momota will probably win it. Otherwise a win against any opponent is just a win, no point.

Looks like there is going to be another upset on court 3. Another 2 points, Ahsan/Hendra are going to win their match over Lee/Lee.

I'm trying to be objective, whether you like it or not, that's my opinion. Let's hear what Momota has to say post-match later.

It has nothing to do with CYF and HBJ's every loss, that's your baseless charge though HBJ's stamina issue is quite obvious and well known to everyone but less so with CYF for whom I don't always put it down to lack of stamina.
