I am just curious about pros and cons of supporting Matsuvama/ and Shida over Ukranian young guns and potential Tokyo Medal candidates Ilvinskava/ and Zharka in the first round of Dutch Open. I just love the way the Ukranian pair plays. But an early exit here for the lovely Shida and disciplined Matsuvama would result in some unwanted attention from the Tokyo press.
I laughed when I read Japan National B Team Coach Masuda's blog on today's MS final. It seems as though no-one was expecting Takeshita to get quite this far: Masuda spent last night scuttling around to book an extra night at the hotel and reschedule the return flight to Japan.
LZJ came back strongly in the decider after an error-prone second game. If he keeps his cool and reduces his errors, he will win the biggest prize-money yet. Fantastic pay day for the youngster. Great victory for LZJ! An increased prize-money meant for CTC!
Plainly, Lee Zijia is trying very hard to impress his coaches and the MAS fans back home watching on TV, a mixed emotion of relief and elation written on his face upon taking the winning point. Well done, and congratulations, LZJ. Just what a young up-and-comer needed most to inject a healthy dose of self-confidence going forward. Keep it up.
Congratulations, Zii Jia! Who would have thought that you can defeat a strong JPN player, Riichi Takeshita. Hopefully you can keep the confident level up and aim for a bigger achievement in the future. What a good play if he could just play consistently with minimum mistakes.
The winner gets US$37,500. Translated to Ringgit, it is approx. M$155,625.00 @ 4.15 to the dollar. Well done LZI, you should be proud of yourself for playing beyond expectation. Keep it up!
Yes, as with most national badminton associations who spent much money to train and develop these youngsters, I suppose part of the prize money will go back to BAM to continue their mission. Let's hope BAM will help LZJ to become a better player, on course to replace Dato Lee.
At least, I state again. After all, I am not from BAM, so I do not know their money prize mechanism. Hopefully he earned at least 75% of that.
I understand that CBA split 50-50 of the prize money with the players, and Li Yongbo , before he left office, was trying hard to get a bigger share of it for the players but I haven't heard any news whether he was successful.
Apparently, these two TPE MD pairs are playing to the gallery, enjoying themselves and entertaining the home crowd.
