Can't measure anymore. I got rid of it because the experience left too sour a taste in my mouth. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
Why would you say so? Nothing wrong with a good string recommendation. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
Well there isn't a 3.5U category but if 4U is 80 to 84.9g and 3U is 85 to 89.9g Then as you said, isn't 84ish g sitting near the boarder and hence '3.5' U? Maybe this what @Quentin11 was trying to say?
I get what he meant. But even with my long term injury now a 3U ZF wouldn't give me this much difficulty either. So what I'm trying to say is that even with this middle of nowhere knife edge balancing weight, there's no reason that the AX99 should be so brutal given where it sits in the scheme of things. Can you describe your experience with the 99(3U or 4U?) a bit more detailed? Going back in this thread I saw that you were really eager to recommend it, but never got the chance to do a full on review with it.
My 4u AX99 doesnt feel like a sledgehammer at all.. it is not more demanding compared to my 3u AX88D. Last night I played for two hours with the AX99 in doubles, lots of power and defence went better than ever..
The highest-swing-weight 4u ax99 is still not up to the swing weight of 3u AX88D. It's natural that 88D feels heavier.
Completly agree. Very head heavy but moves well. Smashes are as good as 88D 3u, even better. It's my first 4u and I love it.
@Yong & @Michel Aupin Can you guys do a full review of the racket and compare it to other 4U rackets? thanks
Finally tonight manage to have a 2 hours session wih my new AX99 4u. First swing it’s NOT HEAVY at all as most of you guys said it’s like a sledgehammer. I don’t understand how can such a light racket can be a sledgehammer for you. I used to play with my 4u LDF without any issue. Both of the LDF and AX99 feel almost the same weight on hand. My AX99 string with Aerobite at 28lbs. Smash was absolutely powerful and what supprised me was the STEEP ATTACK, my smash really went very deep. Drops, clear and net play were all perform better than my LDF and very consistent! As i mention earlier it’s all about personal preferences. Types of grip, string and tension all matters how your rackets perform. Technique and skill plays an important role too. Overall the racket is very user friendly and powerful. I agree it feels light but very head heavy as well. But players who used to play with head heavy racket should be no problem. I used to play doubles game only and 4u definitely no issue. Defense and speed were both good if you focus in your game.
Can't make a complete review as I only played 2 hours with it. I tried a few 4u, vt80etune, astrox77, falcon, js10. They were too light or didn't liked them. Sometimes, I was completly missing the shuttles on smashes and I had no feeling at all with the rackets. I'm really a 3u user, mostly astrox88D and N9-2 (arc11 and duo10 before). Loved the control and the ease to smash of 88D and the speed and versatility of N9-2. Overall ax99 (4u, sp version, I don't have a balance to check the weight) feels lighter than a 3u but the head feels heavier. On smashes and drop shots, the racket felt I have been playing with it for weeks. Attacks were sharp and powerful, same level of Ax88D 3u. On drives and fast shots, I was not bad but not as good as my N9-2. Problably needs more time. Defense, nothing bad to say. The shots I have missed, I would have missed too with the N9-2. I played many double games and it went extremly well, even better than expected so it's not only a racket for single. Don't know for the 3u version though. My shoulder was not tired or painfull after the 2h session. Just personnal preferences but I think I never had that much fun with a new racket in a long time. Fast and powerful and it fits my style of play. I can't wait to hit the court again to see if I will feel the same in a couple of weeks.
