Semi Final : Perodua Malaysia Masters 2018 (A Summary about Marin) Tai Tzu Ying renowned for her skilful strokeplay, showed the stubborn side to her character in fighting back from the dead against Marin in a dramatic first semi-final. Tai Tzu Ying staged an escape act from four match points down against Spain’s Carolina Marin. Marin dominated throughout the third game, and with leads of 16-8 and 20-16, the Spaniard had all but ensured her place in the final. Uncharacteristically, however, at the very end the Spaniard betrayed nerves – a rushed service return, a misjudgement and a long lob helping Tai draw level, followed by a couple of timid shots that handed the match to the world No.1 at 12-21 21-15 23-21 – her fifth straight win over the Olympic champion. “I’m very angry with myself, because it was important to keep calm and think about what I had to do instead of thinking about the scores – that was a mistake,” rued Marin. “I changed my game when I was ahead. I have to be more patient and try to play rallies until she makes the mistake. I have changed many things, now I’m not 100 percent, I will be 100 percent for the All England, but I think I’m doing quite good right now.” [Source]
I don't follow Carolina Marin but did see her recent game against TTY.... what happened to her scream? The game was almost silent!
a lot has changed wc 2013, ppl look this way: there're chinese ws and someone who can trouble them like sung, saina, rat,... Marin beat sung was an upset and then her journey stop in qf. She said it's the best tourney ever that time. Wc 2017, only chen y was chinese ws in sf and it's a successful result. Marin has been stopped in qf, this time was a disappointed
Look at the results of the European Championship: http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=FC3BF9CF-E75E-4D3A-800A-1B12F3156710&draw=2 It was a cakewalk for Carolina Marin. She won everything in 2 sets. And the finals wasn't very close. I wonder if Carolina Marin is training against some of the Spanish MS players at the Spain national training center. There is no way Carolina Marin can keep up her game playing against other European women.
Congratulations to CM! This is good for the growth of badminton in Europe. I hope more Spanish players pursue professional badminton and follow in CM's footsteps. And I hope more European players can break into the top of the world, rather than just Denmark players. Hopefully, we will see players from South America, Central America, and North America break into the top of the world. And of course Africa and the Middle East. That would raise the profile of badminton world wide.
My QUEEN! The one and only Carolina Marin of Spain! yeah baby the only WS to have 3 WC gold medals and an Olympic gold medal! I'm slain by her performances in this World Championships. Imo her form this week is even better than her Olympic form. I'm dying of a match between this CM vs TTY/NO. I believe CM would still prevail in tight 3 setters. hahaha ofc i'm bias I want her to win more SSP/POP tittles especially All England and Super Series Final.
Have to agree with this 100%. CM playing against HBJ in front of a home crowd with almost zero support for herself, absolutely imposed herself on that court. Big game player. It's no wonder she's won 3 WC and 1 OG Gold. Imagine another WC and OG Gold in the next 2-3yrs and suddenly we're seeing the female equivalent of LD.
The screams are still damn annoying, but wow she has taken the womens game to another level. Utterly deserved.
carolina possesses a level of focus which cannot be taught. nothing pushes progress more than disrupting the status quo... frankly, i'd love to witness it.
I would love it as well But I would prefer TTY to also get a gold, and for RI to also get another gold What a dilemma
from early 2017 until now i had mentioned (in numerous threads) the top ws players had caught up to carolina speed wise. hold onto your hats because they're going to have to do it all over again.
Here are some thoughts translated from a Spanish press article after the match.I have only translated some paragraphs that convey the main idea. The author draws a conclusion which is actually a question. "...In badminton history, only chinesse Zhang Ning can claim to be the only woman capable of attainning two Olympic golden medals in a row (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008), but at the age of 25 her (Carolina's) persistence is already unique." "...Never in badminton,a sport for teenagers, where it fastly run out of reflexes, a player had won, had been defeated and had again won.In other words, no one had ever dodged the road to retirement with enough strength to overtake the young girls of the moment (rising stars)". "This is the point of this world championship;come back, evolution and maturity." "... (She) warns a dominance on her part at least until 2020 Tokyo Games ." "After leaving and coming back, now it is impossible to know when her decline will come." So to speak (Sorry for the mistakes)
