What's a masterpiece is yonex's marketing and sponsorship, making the pros use it for doubles and singles, and then market them out as revolutionary doubles racquets. Whether or not the racquets become masterpieces is still too young in their days to tell .

I think a masterpiece in this regards can be considered as something that's a game changer both in terms of technological innovation and the applied effectivity of that. Not necessarily perfect but something that changes the whole scheme of things in the given standards.

How would you then explain Momota's use of the Astrox88D?

And as far as i know, singles doesn''t need much racket speed but more on control and some power.

Very Typical Way of Use of AX88-D 4u.
It can only be played this way and also the best way.
It's smash is not hard enough to go through your opponent then smash less ( only smash when oppotunity shows weakness or for surprise).
Due to it's upmost control & power saving aspect, you are not likely to lose points to smashes either.
The only drawback is that such kind of fight will always last long. If your stamina is out-matched by your opponent, you will lose for sure
(Since you can't win by attack naturally).

Also, when used in doubles, they can't beat you. But, they can beat your teammate.
Your teammate can also beat you.
That's what will happen in doubles when your smash is not hard enough.

    What makes you think it's a 4U?

    He went from ZF2 3u & 2u DZS to a 4u 88s. Yes, this definitely makes sense.

He rarely ever smashed, even when he had good chance.
Using 3u HH racket and do not smash when you have good chances.
    That's what doesn't make sense.

I think that's a bit of a logic leap, we should wait to find out what he's using. I suspect it's the 3U, honestly.

Anybody have a comparison of the 88D 3u/4u and how it compares to a 4u ZF2?

Currently looking to find something a bit easier to use without sacrificing too much power and control.

Just had my first session with my 88S 4U.

I was pretty pleased with how it performed.
Still need much more time with it before making an actual comparison, but it feels like my 4U JS10 but more user friendly lol.
I found it interesting that you do notice the different head size, the shaft flex and shorter racket length but in play it behaves beautifully felt like it gave me a slightly bigger punch. But I’ll be testing it again on Monday :)

Can you give more details on this comparison - is it 4U ZF2 or 3U ?

are you still use astrox 88D or back to previous n90iv? cause i am quite interested in 88D, but not many reviews about this 88 D..
why dont u buy 88S, since you used N90iv (more balance type)?

So far, 16 hours in with my 3u 88s, and I really like the way I do drop shots with this racuqet. Beautiful, close to the net, sudden drop shots, leaving my opponents stranded and awe. I must say, drop shots and drive shots are the best performing features of the 88s, follow by steep angle net shots. I had no issues generating power to do my mid-court or back-court smashes, and I find that I can do a much steeper angle than my n9ii. The smashes from the 88s definitely won't be something that can punch through opponent's defenses, and it relies much on placement of shots rather than with raw power to overcome the opponent.

Zf2 is 3u as are the zsp, i’ve found out pretty much exactly same as Konquerian with my 3u 88s. I do however think it’s deceptively quick as i’ve often hit my opponent with shuttle even on a couple of smashes from back court.
I’d say its more like a zsp than zf2, when i get my hands on a 3u 88d i suspect that will be more like a zf2

My 3u 88S can arrive any day, If this racket handling is close to DU10 or DZS , I will love this ( preparing my mind :) ) ..Gradually, I have also started thinking to buy 4U 88D as I have sold my 4U ZF2 ..
