I think he played more freely and better in PBL. Maybe the pressure for results affected his performance.
China only have 1 pair in WD for Ger and AE? What a farcry. Hopefully they can do well and not let japan win.
English fans’ hopes of podium glory in the MS event will no doubt have received a boost with the news the Raymond Webster is slated to play in the All England Championships this year. Webster, (BWF world ranking 647, BE ranking 15) appears to have edged out his compatriot Sam Parsons for the England MS no.3 spot behind Rajiv Ouseph and Toby Penty, despite the fact that Parsons has enjoyed success in European tournaments in recent seasons. http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...6160C1-6ABB-43CF-A535-2F0175C84D7D&player=300 As part of his warm up preparations for this prestigious inaugural BWF World Tour 1000 event, Webster is also scheduled to take part in next week’s German Open. http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...A5647B-467F-47A1-88EB-53B7580C6EBA&player=384 Raymond Webster, by the way, in case you haven't heard of him, plays for the English County of Somerset, and was born in the year 1954 (that's nineteen fifty-four). http://be.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/category.aspx?id=16856&category=574 smautf
He enters all these prestigious tournaments and doesn't have a hope in hell of winning more than just a few points. Part of me is annoyed with this as at each tournament he plays in, he deprives an up and coming junior or good standard senior of a place, but then another part of me kind of respects him for having a go.
It is absolutely nonsense what you are writing. Raymond Webster is not participating in neither All England nor German Open. He is entered, yes, but in All England he is no. 19 on the reserve list and in germany no. 43 on the reserve list, so he won’t be playing. It is much worse that the American named Mathew Fogarty was actually in the main draw in Swiss Open.
Yonex ALL ENGLAND explain the snub of Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Saina Nehwal for the upcoming 2018 AE poster amidst public fury ''Hi all - Saina has been on our programme cover and posts in past seasons alongside other legends like Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei. The generation of YONEX stars - such as Kevin and Marcus, PV and Viktor - are getting their time to shine bright as well''
VA really lacks a strong 11th result. From my quick calculations it looks like VA could drop to rank 4 if SWH beats CL in the final and KS reaches at least QF. And that is not even including SWH's chances of getting points in German Open. VA does of course have some time to recover that 10th strong result as most of his best results were late last season.
Excitement of AllEngland is so palpable. It just feels bigger than WorldChampionships too bad the service rules has to be introduced this way. nothing is like AE.
Me too, so much so i didn't even attend the World Champs in my home city last year, coming from the Rudy Hartono era, AE was always the biggest event on the Badminton calendar.
I hope and wish that All England will hold a minute’s silence before the MD final to honour Jung Jae Sung, one of the best player of all times.
Just want to share some statistic with all the badminton fans here Total players this year is 256 from 23 countries. Japan has biggest team with 28 players, but only 2 more than Denmark. Top 10 countries by number of players are Japan 28, Denmark 26, Indonesia 24, Chinese Taipei 24, Korea 23, China 22, Thailand 16, England 15, India 15 and Malaysia 13.
Indonesia has more players in double events. On the opposite, China has more players in single event. So counting number of players may not be truly representative. So I counted participation by events entered, meaning only counting double pair as one entry.
If I group them to continents, interestingly we have 3 players from the whole of America USA, Canada and Brazil!
3 things need to change during BWF may meeting : 1. If they dont want to look funny by reversing the service rules, at least make it to 120cm so that it doesnt appear so tight for many players and also judges. No one will or can cheat by serving 5cm higher than 115. The notion of serves is the receiver, as long as the receiver is ready everybody is OK with it. 2. Lumping GPG/BWF300 to the whole list of titles is a joke. Japan won 5GPG and have 6 titles? what is that? They said they want badminton to be more popular but imo, there is no exclusiveness in that. They are making the whole 26 tours look the same. why not count the past Superseries equal with WorldChampionships then? 3. More coverage is more Money but which TV channel want to dedicate 10 hours of Quarter and Semifinal date and pay that much. BWF has to realise that the fans also have a life and picking 5 matches are enough for each round. I think its more important if they can dedicate R1-R2 coverage for SS/GPG events like they previously didnt able to rather than extending 10 matches everyday. They are fixing something that is not broke instead of adding to it.
It will be interesting to see how top players react to this. So many players have already blaming this rule. What about Denmark tall players?
