Agree. It would also give others a chance to win a tournament for a change.

Yeah really interesting! this also says that if LD and LCW start playing a tournament, they are more than likely to win every second tournament they play in, considering each super series or other tournaments have 5-6 matches in them.

This way he also risks getting only a so-so seeding for the big tournaments and a not so fortunate draw.

That doesn't matter at alk when he is ready/at peak means he is ready for ANYONE. He wants to be #1 there, right?

That‘s a rather unrealistic view considering his age. He will not be ready for anyone, I don‘t think so. The other competitors are very strong.

It does not really matter because he'll go all out to beat ANYONE in the tournament, so that's when he seriously train to win. Also, he has no control whatsoever on the outcome of the draws. If he lost in before he get to semi-final or better, then his training/preparation was not good enough. He does not really care much about BWF rankings, he just want to win in those 4 major tournaments

I mean, if he's really up for it, he should be prepared to take on anyone at stage in a tournament

One question i wonder is , why Lin dan is not invited to play India Super league for the past 2 years , since the money guarantee is much more than his China league, the previous club he play for , i heard still owe him money .

How do you know how much PBL will bid for him when he's offered as high as RMB 4 million, equivalent to USD 625K , for CBSL 2016-17 edition, as the highest PBL bid for this year was just 60 lakh, about USD 94K?

That last defeat was cringe af. You can tell how much LD was trying not to win. He passed a lot of winner opportunities and decided to extend the rallies more. I heard there's a new rule for minimum of tournaments played per year, so if that's what it is...

I can see how half-heart his game in that match. Almost half-power smash and just playing around. You can tell KW put almost all of his strength in that match and how LD just didn't care much.

to be honest, this is by itself is a 'disgrace to the olympic spirit'....
I don't blame LD completely though. I think BWF is more to be blamed in this

Well BWF surely had all the right intentions. But when you've won everything there is to win and you're 34 and you're trying to prolong and enjoy your playing career as much as you'd like to, that ain't gonna be much help. Imagine LD and LCW ranked in the top 10 2-3 years from now with the rule still intact.

They just need some sort of concession for players over 30 or 35 perhaps who are ranked in the top 15 to skip S500 tournaments. At the end of the day players who skip smaller tournaments will need to do well in every big tournament in order to keep accruing enough points to stay there.

Lin Dan has registered for German Open 2018 starting on March 06

I think his career is on the line having lost 4 matches since World Championships 2017 and recently sinking Qingdao in CBSL semifinal by succumbing to a straight set defeat at the hands of Huang Yuxiang.

@phihag @j4ckie @Rob3rt may directly ask him this question by visiting Innogy Sporthalle in An den Sportstatten 6
