Hey guys.. how ya goin? Hopefully good.. unlike me :( . Well, the title of the thread speaks for itself - i've got problems sleeping. I was laying and rolling around in bed trying to sleep for around 4 hours and simply couldn't sleep.

Its been going on for nearly a week now.. and was wondering if anyone out there knows of any 'remedies' or tips that you can give me.

Its not so much of not being tired.. but i think its because i 'think too much' as i lay there. As hard as I try.. i just can't get my mind to stop thinking too much..

Because the weather is cold, i'd usually take a cold shower and get back into bed where its warm; usually i'd get knocked out and snooze till the afternoon if i do this.. but.. its simply not working!!

    Someone.. please.. help me.. :(

ummm.... you can think till you drop  but if your body or brain doesn't want to sleep, maybe you should just get up, and do something else, have some fun :D

When I was a student, every time I read the boring text books of the boring subjects like Political Science, I would fall asleep easier. Don't know if it works for you. :) And also watching all these boring Oscar winning movies like "Leaving Las Vegas" will make me sleep too. :)

Lol. Get into your most comfortable sleeping position, stay there, close your eyes and eventually you will fall asleep.

Just lie on the edge of your bed and you'll soon drop off ;)

Learn yoga ... there're conscious techniques to quiet a noisy mind, that you can try.

Or what you could do is, make yourself some ice cream, get sugar high, when the sugar wears off, you'll get a headache. Then you'll want to fall asleep.

I suggest getting a "hypnotism" or "relaxation" cd or audio file. Essentially, a soothing voice tells you to focus on your breathing, to do progressive relaxation, etc. This brings my mind into a relaxed, passive state which easily transitions into sleep.

I found it helped when I was over-anxious about exams and my mind would be much too active to get enough rest.

lol! haha.. LB.. i don't think i can afford $160AU mate, hehe.. but the milk part, i can do.. cheers ;)

hahhahahahah.. 'fun' aye? might wanna.. be.. more specific.. my mind is making alot of asumptions ;) ..

Sweet, sounds good stumblingfeet. I remember doing something like that in mind and body (school subject where we do yoga, tai chi, relaxation, mind easing stuff.. didn't learn a great deal about mine easing, mostly learned about taking off stress). We did this exercise where the teacher played this beach background sound and she read to us saying stuff like how we're 'laying on a beach' and us floating on water and stuff.. was pretty good stuff. Where do you think I can buy CDs like so.. ? A regular cd store?

I ended up sleeping after around another hour of laying there staring at the roof, lol.. not really entertaining, but it did the job. But I'll take up a few pointers from here when i hit the hay tonight.. cheers to all, much appreciated! :D Dad just woke me up and told me that i have to go to the airport.. with only having like 2 or 3 hours of sleep in me :( .
