I have more faith in INA WS : Ayustine than Hanna here. The favourites are THA's Nitchaon, Busanan and Zhang Beiwen.

I am confident Alfian/Ardianto can reach at least the semifinal here.

Should just be a GP instead of GPG, properly addressed next year for this tournament to be a GP.

Why? The organizers can't possibly know which players will sign up (or withdraw) and they're forking out 120000$. If the better players don't want the money and the points, so be it. I think the problem lies with an oversaturation of tournaments at this time of the year. With two SS events in a row to recover from, lots of players are exhausted and probably rather avoid a costly and time-consuming trip to Europe in order to prepare for the tournaments in Asia.

I was just being an idealist audience here, without looking at the organizers perspective.
It was solely because Germany already has 1 GPG, and having 2 tourneys with the same level is a bit strange.
For the condition at the moment, agree, I blame BWF for the scheduling issue.
They should make the tour like with clear distinction which level are focused for each 2 weeks, e.g.
Vietnam Open, Taipei Open, Korea Open, Japan Open, Dutch, Bitburger, Denmark, French, Macau Open, Korea Master, China Open, Hong Kong.
The alternating pattern of 2 GPs and 2 SSs,
would really give allocations to which tournaments the first and second tier of players are joining.
But on the other hand, it really underemphasis the GPs in this case. The cost-benefit should be considered.

Bitburger Masters is listed as a grade 2 level 6 next year in the current schedule, aka a GP. So yeah, it is going down one tier.

[iirc] It goes back to the demands BWF has for hosting a Super Series event that Germany has chosen to hold two GPG's. The organizers have a lot more freedom to fill in the event. Also Bitburger used to be somewhere in September, not long after the World Championships but it couldn't attract big players (in the more or less off-season) so it moved on the calendar behind the French Open. This also (negatively) affected the attraction of the Dutch Open as players could now opt for the same three week trip only with more points up for grab in the last week.

This year is the last edition of Bitburger Open with Grand Prix Gold status.
Next year, will be Bitburger Master (Grade 2 Level 6), downgrading 1 level while German Open still Grade 2 Level 5.

Partially, it shows how we actually need to have more tournaments at local level to accommodate this type of very enthusiastic badminton lovers! :)
