I never thought Srikanth would be able to replicate his form from China Open 2014. Glad to be proven wrong. Chen Long great defense was not enough, as he was not able to read his opponent's game. Hope Srikanth would maintain his form for the WCs.

Most would-be contenders after the Sudirman Cup will immediately think of the August WC and plan to wards it and probably treat the interim tournaments as preparatory or warm-up events, not so Srikanth who wants to make the most of the opportunities to win whatever is on offer. Good for him.

Even Tai Tzu Ying is not in her best form these two weeks but she's not going to the Worlds, only the Universiade where she'll definitely deliver for CHN TPE.

The best preparation is to stay home and work hard. Why come to participate in tournaments if you arent planning to win anyway.
All the travelling and time differences affect your training.

Explanation already given. The chinese are here for warm ups.
They are such world beaters that they use Super series as warm up tournaments. Womens singles event anyone.

The reasoning for everything is not good.
Chen long has not won any Super series after olympics. If people start to give reasons , how many reasons will they give.
The best way is accept the defeat , prepare well and win it.
Srikanth definitely worked hard to achieve it. Let's congratulate him

Yeah, he rested for more than four months and would require twice the amount of time, about 8 months, to return to his top form of Rio'16. That's the case when you take a long break as commonly understood in badminton circles, the CHN camp has said it before, the coaches. In other words, for every one month break, you need double the time to regain your previous form. Plus Chen Long recently slightly injured his wrist, withdrawing from a tournament or two, causing him to lose some more competitive edge.

Srikanth Kidambi breaks a mental barrier and defeats Chen Long! Srikanth learns how to push hard and put Chen Long under pressure, forces him to make mistakes. Srikanth could have won game 2 with a bigger margin but he will learn and become better. Chen Long is a fantastic player and he played well. He was up against a player who has done his homework and had a good game plan. While the big 3 remain favourites for WC, Srikanth and Sai Praneeth are the dark horses! :)

Curious about what Christinna Pedersen said (or joked about) during the trophy presentation ceremony that got both Japanese girls laughing?

Srikanth`s match against Praneeth took a toll on him. He also had a longer tournament in Indonesia . The score might have been 21-3, 21-4 otherwise. :)

why is it so hard to give due credit to winner? agreed chinese players are very good in badminton but to say that they are losing because due to preparation for WC is just plain excuse. Nobody loses a super-series final on purpose or for warm-ups. Well Played KS by beating CL.

Yesterday srikanth did hurt his hand when he fell down on court with force. But he still able to come back and win it in 2 straight game. It is marvellous.

Wrong. The Chinese will win all six events at the worlds. Now they are all warmed up and ready.

Nobody said anything negative against Srikanth, whether credit is given or not , it's implied, a sort of quiet acknowledgment of his achievements. It's only natural that reasons, justifications and (valid) excuses follow when there appears to be a case for it in constructive, knowledgeable conversations among those who know badminton, such as buffs and connoisseurs, even experts, as opposed to those who don't really understand the game and merely treating it purely as entertainment, that is the uninitiated. Just saying.
