So LYD, YYS, and KSR are out of international competitions for good. LYD/YYS wil play their last international Final match today in Korea Open. Korea are left with 3 or 4 Men in MD/XD : KSH, KKJ, SBC, CSG (XD specialist).
They have several youngsters starting to spread their wings. I wouldn't count on them having just 3 guys left. But they won't really be much of a force to be reckoned with for the next year or 2.
SBC left the squad awhile ago and there's no sign of him returning as of now. I hope to see them do better once they get more experience playing senior tournaments. Seo Seung Jae (MS) and Kim Ga Eun (WS) are two names I will follow carefully.
What you have just said is correct. SBC will not return to the squad for quite a while. It is confirmed that only LYD will retire from the national team. YYS will still continue playing of course. Thanks for posting the article to clarify things. Initially it is supposed to be both LYD and YYS retiring. The latest news is only LYD will retire. YYS will still continue to play in both XD and MD.

Correct. Kim Sa Rang together with Bae Yeon Ju have also retired. KSR will go for his dis neck surgery very soon.
The Korean badminton regeneration is slim. I bet if they can go operate like the KPOP business scouting talents, training them as apprenticeship early I think we would have lots of Korean prospects right now. Not any more. Yoo is off the national team. They had a bit of a messy start, due to some technicalities in their ranking, and they ended up on the reserve list, unable to compete in Malaysia and Singapore. All of that appears to be moot now, with Kim Gi Jung and Yoo having left the national team. Kim Ha Na has been paired with Kim Duk Young for the next two Superseries events.
IMO, this is challenging times for Korea especially the mens team. With so many experienced players retiring/leaving the national team, it may create a vaccum in their country's representation especially the men discipline. What is more worrying, from my perspective, is the seemingly lack of promising young players who could potentially step up and stamp their mark on the badminton scene like the seniors before them. IMO, korea is too reliant on their current on-circuit players to bring in results. Wonder how much went into grooming the next generation of top players My two cents worth. Korean MD pair (17 and 19 years old) showed promising things versus Ivanov/Sozonov today so I'm not afraid for Korea's MD future.. Of course, it would have been better to let them grow a little more but the experience they are getting now is priceless and their defense is already quite solid LYD is still going back to the national team next year isn't it?
