Sorry to be a little pedantic but there is no World Cup for badminton anymore. That is an old tournament. There is, however, the World Championships.
Just an information. This news is published today in indian newspapers. A 23 year old badminton player suffered ankle injury last year and the bandage is removed. And is recovering from injury. But the swelling in the ankle did not subside. His mother has given him an oil massage in that injured leg' s calf muscles. He immediately indicated severe chest pain to his mom. Immediately, he was taken to hospital , he died on the way. Moral: Please Don't apply any pressure on injured leg. Especially in this case , the massage given by his mom moved the blood clot ( according to doctor) . His mom is going to miss his son forever. I just wanted post this news to our members for them to be alert in such circumstances. Sent from my SM-G600FY using Tapatalk
That is not universally true, there are circumstances when you want to apply pressure and/or cold to keep the initial swelling at bay. But that's immediately after the injury happened, such as feeling a tear in your muscle, or rolling over your ankle. If you suspect a severed tendon, especially the achilles tendon, refrain from cooling it, as the severed tendon ends will retreat from each other as a result of the tendon and muscles shrinking from the cold. There is no universal advice on how to handle injuries, but try to refrain from trying to do too much yourself without medical advice, especially if you're unsure what the issue is. Best is usually to not move the injured area and get medical attention asap.
BAI President interacts with current and former badminton players at conclave. 1.5 Badminton Academies for each zone (North East, North, West, South and East) 2.Clear calendar and announcing teams early so players not part of National team can participate on their own. 3.Stronger domestic circuit with top players playing at least one tournament of their choice. These are good ideas hope they are implemented early to help Indian badminton rise. We need to be forward thinking and we are determined to change our system’’, said Sarma.
