I heard some time back, exactly before Rio olympics, regarding Olympics podium scheme where funds were allocated to probable players when RMV's name was in it . When asked about it , it was said that the allocated money would be used to train players as a whole, as KS, RMV, PRannoy everybody were training in the same locality. I wonder what happened to him afterwards. Sometimes, some pictures emerges in the social media of players showing him in team dinners etc.

Somebody said Anand pawar is retired. But he won a title today @dutch international, beating kalle koljonen in the finals with 20-22,21-19,21-17

    Congratulations Anand Pawar!

The last I heard of RMV Gurusaidutt he was injured. No updates after that. Just have to wait and see if he returns like Anand Pawar from injury.

    Anand Pawar MS Champion

I was wondering if Anand was injured or retired and turns out he had a spine injury and was out for 5 months. Though it was a low level tournament, nice to see him win it!

I know but thats true for Himanta.
He gets a cut in everything like Gupta, thus corrupt.
However Gupta was capable enough to get sponsors/events/infra/money etc. and Himanta can get all these with an enhanced magnitude, thus more capable.

Only prob is time. Gupta had loads of free time and his political and entreprenurial careers were secondary to his BAI role; however Sarma is a busy man with multiple hats and till 2019, successive elections and big deals (with big cuts for him) will keep him busy. There's a fear that badminton development may take a backseat in his scheme of things much like Srini put AICF to the backseat while he helmed BCCI.

It's a long way to go for a tournament and financially not rewarding but you earn ranking points!

Can't believe my eyes PVS lost to HBJ today, she was looking really fine in the previous rounds plus the g1 today.
She has somewhat struggled against this young CHN starlet.
SC and WC are knocking at the door, show some consistency now or she'll miss big chance this year as SN is no way near at her best

Ik that, but I am saying, since this year she has suddenly came out of the shadows of SN and established herself as world beaters, it's high time she start removing players from the "can defeat me" list.
Ofc all the top10 WS are more or less same at the moment.
But if HSE wants to get her name a league above this year is hers to do it.
Let's see, always troubled by HBJ, RI,CM in fact SJH takes her all the way. TTY is no go, so will be when LXR comes back. NO, SY and SN can some what be discarded at the moment.
And don't be so sure about WC! High time she starts gaining edge of others, better H2H already gives you advantage

I think she and Gopichand have their goals and plans set out. They did very well in the Olympics and certainly PV was not dominating nor established before the Olympics.

PV Sindhu does well when she has time for focussed training. Which the World Cup provides 30+ days to train. Which is why she did well in the Olympics, she had time to work on endurance and training. She seems to struggle with back to back tournaments. It's not a fitness issue but mental concentration seems to be lacking. It will take some time for her to start doing well, consistently on the circuit. She continues to improve but not as fast as we would like.

She has 21 days to train for the Sudirman Cup so I expect a better performance from Sindhu. She remains a big match player but she can still win the odd SS or SSP Title. I think by 2019 and 2020 we will see better performances and more titles on the circuit. Which is why it is important that Gopichand chooses a certain number of tournaments and plans accordingly. Since she is in the top 8 she would have to attend a certain minimum.

Saina Nehwal will play better from the World Cup onwards. But it is painful to see her losing R1 matches.
