At Singapore, she played well without much unforced errors, but in MAS and AE she had some heart stopping spells of 5-6 errors in a row that would almost cost her the game or match...

Good to see her learning to overcome that.

Unforced errors or not, a free flow game is the way she always plays and where she excels. Her game will suffer if she focuses on cutting errors.

I don't know... but rule number one in badminton is to get the bird over the net and inside the lines, so I'm quite sure TTY would agree with me on the importance of cutting down simple unforced errors. Otherwise it's like gifting free points away...

May be you are right. We shall see if she would change her style of play. I don't see she will play better than now if she doesn't play the way she have been playing. Only One LD so far in badminton.

With taking high risks comes a higher chance for making errors. A big part of TTY's game is going for risky shots instead of comfortably staying on the safe side. That's what makes her game so unpredictable since you can never tell what she might be doing next. Drastically lowering the risk level in her game could indeed take away some of its magic and could make it more readable. What she needs to do is to find consistently that thin line on which risk and errors are at an optimal ratio. And looking at the Singapore Open, she has made a big step towards that.

And here's one more clip for the gallery. How does it have to feel to leave the reigning World and Olympic Champion stranded like that:

That was just luck though. She changed her mind late and then had some luck with the drift.

It's not luck when you've won the last 5 SS
It's just another thing that went her way.

+ Carolina Marin was probably thinking it would go wide. But still a great shot. :)

And by the way, can someone translate what is written on the card?

That is one solid lead in the World Rankings:

Out of interest - has there ever been a player with more ranking points?

Maybe LXR, but I'm not sure. I think LCW holds the record in the MS category.

LXR was the only female that came to my mind too - she had that incredible season ('13/'14?) when she won practically everything except the WC. But I just can't seem to find any historical data there. In MS there is no doubt that it will be LCW who holds the record.

I would think LCW mustve had more at some point, his stranglehold on the SS/PSS circuit was almost inescapable foe a while :D

Yeah, he really rocked the badminton world when he was at his peak, unlike Chen Long who is a big disappointment despite winning the Olympics. LCW is probably the most consistent player ever.
