True. TBH I thought that her silver medal in Rio was a single stroke of genius (luck?) but in fact she has improved her game a lot in the past 12 months. If she will maintain or even exceed her current level for a longer period of time, she will stay amongst the World's top 5 consistently. Apart from those three, it's hard to predict who else will be able to make that step. I was positively surprised by CYF. She definitely has the talent so let's see where she ends up if she'll add hard work.
I mentioned earlier in page 30, last post. The stringing pattern was taught by an older guy, he did not know what is it for as well. He just follows what was taught to him and he just lived with it. There is no specific reason for the missing cross..
It will mostly depend on how well she will recover from her latest shoulder injury and how she will manage to stay healthy afterwards. She has the potential, no doubt about that. But it seems to me as if her physique might be tad too vulnerable to widthstand the constant pressure and workload to stay amongst the Top5. I hope she will prove me wrong though - her footwork is just a joy to watch when she's fully fit.
Congrats for yet another title TTY. What a great run by this young girl, undefeated since November last year!
A bit of nitpicking - last match she lost was against SJH during group phase at the Dubai SSF mid of December. Although she didn't really seem to bother and got a pretty easy revenge only two days later in the final. But back to the present - Truly amazing how TTY is currently playing on her own level and dictating the WS. Cruising to her fifth consecutive SS title without giving away a single game. And I wonder how many more TTY vs. CM finals we will see this season. Such a shame she will skip the WC though.
“I’ve not thought too much about winning these five tournaments. I think everyone around me is more concerned about these five titles. But for me, I just want to play well in every tournament,” said the champion. “In every competition, I hope to discover and learn from my weaknesses, to train and correct them.” www.facebook.com/bwfbadminton/posts/10154352652726316 Her attitude is one of a kind. So refreshing.
TTY is smart enough to know that it takes top skill and top fitness to reach the top, so she went from a bit of fatness to super fitness and it paid off.
If she can reduce the amount of unforced errors even more she will be unbeatable. Wait a sec, she already is...
Speaking of fitness... we all know her scary abs. But if I may direct your attention at her legs in this picture: Unbelievable how much muscle mass is hiding in those fairly normal looking thighs and calves. And you can imagine how many hours in the gym are needed to get into this shape.
