Really sad that Yamaguchi did not win against Zhang as she is one of the only player who can really push TTY to the limits and win against her. We would have had a better SF I think.

Marin is in a devastating form and really exposed SJH's main weakness: her lack of speed. She was always two steps slower then Marin. SJH is good at staying in balance and covering the court but not when the opponent goes all out attack right from the return of serve

    Looking forward the MD/WD/WS finals[/QUOTE]

SJH just is the new choker. Always choking at semis. Countless semis she has made, countless finals. Yet no convert. I would like to see her on podium holding a medal once.
    Kinda like my life:(
    Sadly missing podium finishes.

This is a bit harsh. SJH has made great progress and has definitely affirmed herself as a top 5 players since last year. Yet, she is still a level lower than players like TTY, RI, and CM which explains why she always seem to lose at later stages against these players. The problem is that all of her game relies on tiring out the opponents and extending rallies. She does not possess the attacking , net, deceptive skills to score free points or really put pressure on her opponents. In short, she is probably the best all-around but is not the best in any specific areas of the game: attack, defense, net play, deceptive play.

The new coaching seems to try changing that though so we will see.

So does Li/Liu have no weakness? or goh/tan? or kamura sonoda?

these pair who only 1 or 2 superseries, list their weaknesses too.

talk like its so easy to beat kevin/markus.

I think what hampers with Misaki's serve is the way she holds the shuttle. She unnecessarily moves some fingers before striking. This could be of no difference to her, I don't know...

Hopefully she doesn't put Ayaka in trouble with her serves tomorrow, especially when CP is the receiver.

    FINAL ORDER OF PLAY (01.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...887ADA-B752-4925-B13C-6B680FE9FAEB&d=20170416

India has secured MS title while there's chance to see five different nations win top prize tomorrow. Both Korea and Indonesia have no representation in finale, all of them failed to clear semifinal round, most significantly in doubles category.

XD, Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong (CHN) v Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai (THA)
    H-2-H stats : 3-0 / WR : 2 v 11
The in-form Lu/Huang have excellent start in this new season, three straight finals in a row since IND Superseries with impressive result, grabbed prestigious All England and India Open also managed MAS Premier runner-up last week, lost to teammates Zheng/Chen. China regeneration in this category is going on the right track after Zhang/Zhao, Xu/Ma era. The world number two almost sent packing by home pair at last sixteen and troubled by Korean pair Kim GJ/Shin SC in semifinal. The Chinese is hot favourite to top podium tomorrow against the well progressed Thailand duo who knocked SEA opponents en route to final, three Indonesian pairs and Malaysian Tan KM/Lai PJ. Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai created breakthrough in Basel recently and will be extra motivated to eye their maiden Superseries crown.

WD, Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi (JPN) v Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen (DEN)
    H-2-H : 9-5 / WR : 1 v 2
An ideal final, repeat of Rio Olympic Gold medal match, both finalists knocked out Korean rivals at last four. Matsutomo/Takahashi controlled whole match against Jung KE/Shin SC, a close contest overall in this tie. More drama in another WD semifinal, current All England champion Chang/Lee had good start in first game but Juhl/Pedersen changed tactic after interval break and neck to neck brought them into extra point, dramatic ending favoured to Danish pair when Pedersen asked to challange the disputed call and hawk-eye outcome against the line-judge, 28-26. The Korean ladies seemed frustrated in second game and made one way traffic match as the Danes dominated and sealed the match easily, 21-11.

MS, Sai Praneeth B. (IND) v Kidambi Srikanth (IND)
    H-2-H : 4-1 / WR : 30 v 29
Expect the unexpected and it's unbelievable fact in MS story here. It's a graveyard for pre-tournament favourites since first round, one by one seeded players faltered, from Viktor Axelsen to Shi Yuqi. And all Indian finals happen for the first time in Superseries level, memorable time for Indian badminton fans. Srikanth regains his self belief and maybe the best chance for him to clinch title after injury and series of flopped performances but head to head statistics is worrying whether he could prevail tomorrow. He experienced second round toughest moment to save three match points against Ihsan Maulana Mustofa and this is turning point for him to pass two talented youngsters Shi YQ and Anthony Ginting confidently at next rounds. A first ever final of Superseries tournament for Praneeth, he had big trouble to defeat opponents at first three rounds, Emil Holst, Qiao Bin and Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk but surprisingly got easy job to demolish Lee Dong Keun in semifinal.

WS, Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v Carolina Marin (ESP)
    H-2-H : 4-4 / WR : 1 v 2
The perfect final between current world's top two, a world class action is expected from this duel as they demonstrated last week in Kuching. Both players have superb form, Marin's aggressive and fast style looks match with windy situation in the stadium, she practically outclassed Sung Ji Hyun who had no answer and waited for her Spanish opponent attack. The tactical Tai Tzu Ying was troubled by Zhang Beiwen in first set and took second game comfortably, 21-19 / 21-15. Three consecutive finals for Marin and will seek third time lucky to end title drought since won dream Olympic Gold medal last August. The rivalry between these two different personalities and style of play certainly elevates WS competition to high excitement.

MD, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen (DEN) v Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen (CHN)
    H-2-H : 1-1 / WR : 6 v 2
Danish veterans ended new sensation pair Gideon/Sukamuljo winning streak, the Indonesian took opening game normally but then experience paid off as Boe/Mogensen slowed the tempo in second game to lift the shuttlecock high and forced INA combination to unleash jumping smash frequently and drained energy. Fatigue accumulation after non stop tour since IND Open was described in second and third game. At the adjacent court, Li/Liu dropped first game due to their opponent unfamiliarity style of play. The Chinese had tougher match to sail into last round, played three games in last thee rounds while Danish duo only stretched into rubber games in semifinal. It will be interesting encounter to close final day.

Can we say SJH is underachiever? with only 2SS, she's 27 now how many more can she win?

Just like endo/hayakawa, chaibiao/hongwei. what will they be remembered of?

    As hardworking eternal chokers.

Still remember one of the greatest chokes by SJH vs WYH in the Uber cup, that was stuff of legends.

Lay off my SJH! She's 25 btw :D

But yes, she so far has mostly only gotten good results playing home. She has to play better, unless she plans on waiting for the World Championships to be held in Korea.

I will remember endo/hayakawa as "The Finalists". They are a good MD pair with fairly consistent performance in the SS circuit; it's unfortunate that they never won SS despite entering a number of finalls including AE. Dun think they won much titles in their entire career.

As for Chai Biao/Hong Wei, they are a good pair but not too enamoured by their playing style. Chai Biao comes across to me as a tat bit too impatient. Makes errors when he is frustrated.

Sai Praneeth, India's most talented and skilful badminton player against Srikanth Kidambi, India's most successful MS player! Praneeth won the 2010 World Junior Bronze Medal. His best performance on the circuit was Runner Up India GPG 2017. Srikanth a former top 10 player and China SSP, India SS MS champion. It would be good for Indian MS if someone other than Srikanth wins an SS Title. :)

I think it good for men's singles in India to get this boost but also, they are realistic in that there is some way to go. They know the crunch is doing it day in day out matching and beating other competitors who are in the zone - not depending on opponent's bad days.

.....aaaand the battle is underway. Can't pick a favorite yet but sure going to be an exciting Sunday.

Agree with the old MD field being cut-throat with talented heavy hitters
SJH is...well...wait..WHO's SJH again? Oh yeah, that old Korean woman with all the moves and skills who can threaten anyone.....but also gives away as many victories as she claims? nope, no idea who she is ;).. ..AND it'd be hard for non-fans to remember her by if she doesn't make her mark this year!
