MS - Sony Dwi Kuncoro (INA)
    WS - Ratchanok Intanon (THA)
MD - Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan (CHN)
WD - Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari (INA)
XD - Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na (KOR)

Some notable names pulled out from this tournament due to injury, Jan O Jorgensen (DEN), Chen Long (CHN), Saina Nehwal (IND), Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen (CHN), Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (MAS).

In the absence of MS big three Lee CW, Lin D, Chen L also Jorgensen as well, IND Superseries winner Viktor Axelsen should be the strongest contender to clinch the crown. The young Dane is predicted to surpass preliminary rounds and scripted to face Chou Tien Chen in last eight. On top-half of draw, Son Wan Ho, semifinalist of just concluded MAS Premier will be the second highest seeded player in the fray and has possible meeting with Ng Ka Long at quarterfinal. According to tournament winner's list, SIN Open often produces surprise package in this discipline since Superseries inception, 2007 edition where the underdogs outshine the pre-tournament favourites and no impossible it may happen once again this year.

The most interesting category nowadays, Women's singles will feat a star-studded cast, who will end Tai Tzu Ying winning streak? The world number one is unstoppable since HKG Open last November to grab Dubai Finals, All England and the latest one, MAS Open. After failed to defend her title in New Delhi and Kuching, Thai prodigy Ratchanok Intanon has SIN Open mission, she's drawn with Tai TY, Akane Yamaguchi and He Bingjiao at top-half of draw. On the opposite side, second seed Sung Ji Hyun, Carolina Marin, Pusarla V. Sindhu and last year beaten finalist Sun Yu are expected to through into quarterfinal stage but Sindhu has premature meeting with tough rival, Nozomi Okuhara tomorrow.

All eyes will looking forward to Indonesian MD hotshots, Gideon/Sukamuljo whether they can continue brilliant run to create Superseries hat-trick, three titles in three consecutive weeks. They're predicted to find arch-rival Danish combination Conrad/Kolding in last eight. Second seed, Dubai Finals champion Goh/Tan look off-form lately, they were crashed out in first round of homeground Superseries last week.

WD competition willl present the rivalry between Japan, China, Korea pairs alongside with Rio silver medalists Juhl/Pedersen, hardly to see the others could thwart them on top podium. First round intriguing tie will see All England champion Chang YN/Lee SH against newly-crowned MAS Premier winner Fukushima/Hirota.

Three-time champion Ahmad/Natsir progress here will depend on how Liliyana Natsir knee injury is recovered. They have tricky test as opening hurdle, Thai well-improved duo Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai. Join them in same half of draw are Jordan/Susanto, Fischer/Pedersen, Tan KM/Lai PJ. Two Chinese pairs, Zhang N/Li YH and the on-fire Lu K/Huang YQ are the frontrunners to book final berth.

I just glanced at the livescore and noticed Bao Yixin/Yu Xiaohan escaped defeat at the hands of the SIN WD pair, Crystal Wong/Ong. That's close, a pity the SIN pair couldn't close it out ,it'd be such a morale booster for them.

Singapore XD looks promising! The girl is smart. The guy is sharp. Both are quick. Very relax style. Can only tell against stronger opponents.

Decaphol/Sapsiree have become good and consistent after a few memorable outing since last year.
Their chemistry is good but have a average attacking style.

SIN XD Terry Hee/Tan Wei Han cleared their first hurdle over the INA pair. albeit by the narrowest of margin, 21-19, 22-20.

The XD field is quite open and unpredictable but I put my money on Lu/Kai or Joachim/Christina.

Tontowi/Natsir already out in two straight set.
Natsir's injury is still dampening their performance.

Former World Junior Champ, relatively unknown Kwang Hee Heo barely passed against Liew Darren in three set.

Henrikho Kho always lost in either r1 or r2. What a waste of money.

    Also, PV vs NO
    TWW vs Ihsan
    BSP vs Emil Holst
    TS vs Ng
Sameer plays Hu Fun yet again.
Would love to watch if Kevin/Marcus still have enough steam, they have tricky R1 against KGJ/Choi
Also eager to see how many points can Pornpawee take off the OG gold medalist and who wins Hirota/Fukushima or CYN/LSH both the pairs are on fire.
Another interesting match will pit together the "Present" SWH vs the "Future" Kwang Heo Heo
