The app crashes for me when I try to rotate the screen sideways.

Same here, but really no need to turn it sideways to use?

Yes true, but I just wanted to notify the developer of this glitch.

Tried the new update, still not working properly. Also tried uninstalling it, restarting the phone, and reinstalling. What I get is a number already displayed when I start the app, usually something like 30 to 35 lbs, and it doesn't change when I try to ping it with a racket. Also when my phone screen times out and goes dark the app doesn't come back when I wake the screen back up.

For those who don't speak French, he's asking when the iOS version will come out, though you might be able to tell just from the word iOS. :p

I really like the idea of this app, but I haven't been able to get it to work on my phone (Samsung S5 Neo)

With previous version no frequency was recorded at all.. just stayed at 0.0 Hz.
With latest version, immediately on start of app, it records a frequency of exactly 1250 Hz. And that number does not change, no matter what sound I make in front of the phone (tapping a racket, whistle or picking a note on guitar ).

Apart from that, I do have a few suggestions to improve the app.

    - add an on-screen button to reset the app/make it ready for another racket.
    - add an options-menu, to let you set a desired start-up setting, in regards to string-gauge and head-shape. (at least the app on my phone seems to forget what I did choose on previous start)
    - add an option to enter different strings, like Yonex BG80 or NBG99, with corresponding thickness.. I don't always remember myself what thickness a specific string has, and even less knowledgeable are my strining-clients... ;)

Hi Slade, I haven't been able to recreate this issue on my side. I'm guessing it's something to do with MIC sensitivity on some handsets. I'm working on adding a settings tab which'll allow you to set the MIC sensitivity. It'll can take me about a week to roll out a new update. Have a lot on my plate from work as well. Hope you understand :)

You have pointed out some great ideas, one of which I'm already working on (option to enter string by name)

About the app not detecting frequency, I think, it would help if I give an option to enter frequency manually instead of using the MIC.

Yes, that would be helpful to go back and compare some older readings in our data set.

Understood. For reference the Carltune app works fine on my phone to check frequency, though I do have to make sure I'm in a quiet room, be close to the mic, and hit the strings hard.

If carltune is working, then I'll try to find out what I'm doing wrong. As discussed above, I'll also be adding an option to enter frequency manually. It'll be a bit inconvenient but if nothing else works, that'll have to do I'm afraid.

Just to update about this issue of different phones not detecting any sounds...

I have just updated my phone with a new Samsung-released Marshmallow-build (android 6.0.1), and now the sound IS being detected...!

That's great! This finding also correlates with what I have observed from other reports as well.

So does that mean older phones are out of luck? S4 on 5.0.1 showing no system update available.
