Hendra will be partnering Tan Boon Heong effective 1st January 2017. Great combo of front and back court player. Looking forward to this exciting partnership! ( Source : Tan Boon Heong's FB Post)
Tan Boon Heong will partner Hendra Setiawan effective 1st January 2017. What is our opinion about this partnership?
I'm sure this new partnership will be successful although they are not young anymore, especially God Hendra. Hopefully they can be ranking 1 BWF...
Wish there were more players from different countries pairing up. Rid of the Nation vs Nation prejudices and enjoy better badminton leaving the country vs country to Thomas cup etc
Here is a link from Indonesian news. http://m.juara.net/read/raket/bulu-tangkis/163650-ini.alasan.hendra.setiawan.pilih.tan.boon.heong Hendra said that he actually had 2 options, TBH and Yoo Yeon Seong. However, Hendra said, there are unclear rules governing Korean players, who are out of National Team, to participate in Super Series tournament, whereby the Korean players allows to participate in certain tournaments, but prohibited to participate in other tournaments. Due to this unclear rules applied to YYS, then HS chose TBH as his partner for 2017 onwards. Note that there is no specific reference concerning such so-called unclear rules in this link.
HS is scared BKA will do what CBA did to Cai Yun... which is a legit cause for concern. Would be amazing to see what YYS will use in the YY family though..
HS/TBH will debut their journey in Syed Modi International Badminton Championships 2017 and then AE SSP 2017 & MAS SSP 2017. Good luck for them! We hope to see them to be World Champion in Glasgow 2017
that would be nice however, i think m Most of professional players are supported financially by respectively government, only the few top players can afford to get good sponsorship. China, Malaysia and Indonesia government allocated millions of dollars every year for their respective badminton association
Indepedent yes. But to enter tournaments, they still have to have approval from their own national associations for each individual BWF tournament that they enter. Playing in leagues or invitational tournaments is not a problem but playing in BWF tournaments has an extra administrative hurdle to overcome.
Very nice......I love tbh smashing form and setiawan's court awareness....I wish them the best.... I'll be cheering for them...
The administrative process will go the same way like single player Lee Hyun-Il and Zulfadli Zulkiffli, they are independent players and sponsored by Apacs but still able to participate in Super Series tournaments. I guess with Yonex influence, they will push the same for TBH/Hendra despite both from different nationalities. Other example, in the XD pairing of Yogendran Khrishnan (Malaysia) /Prajakta Sawant (India), year 2016 to date, they have participated in 13 tournaments sanctioned by BWF (2 SS, 5 GPG, 5 IS, 1 IC).
Really looking forward to this pairing. If TBH can stay motivated this could potentially be a phenomenal pairing. The trouble is, neither are the most consistent players ever but when they are playing well, there aren't many that can better them in their respective roles as rear and front court players. HS's consistency has been a bit wobbly over the past year or so, I hope this new pairing will give him that extra boost.
