Can't agree more. She finally seems to have found a way to overcome her previous nemesis CM. I need to watch the replay of today's match later on. And if I'm not completely wrong, TTY should claim #2 in next week's World Rankings. Will we see her in the top spot next year? EDIT: Here's the match: One of t h e best performances of TTY I have seen yet - and in total one of the best WS singles matches in the past year (or more?!).
Congrats for winning her second SS title in 2016. Well deserved after fighting through such a great match against CM yesterday. Finally she didn't seem to be intimidated by CM's offensive attitude but instead seemed to somehow play along with it and enjoying it. It's Dubai next and let's see if she will be able to repeat the back to back victories in Hong Kong and Dubai from 2014.
This time she's wearing her lucky shoes. She played wonderfully. Deceptive drops, great cross court net shots, and most importantly error free. She's a joy to watch.
Oh right, she's back in her 930s. And let's not forget those massive cross court smashes that she'd fired at CM yesterday in a row. Seems to me as if she had improved truly every side of her game in the past few months. Speed, stamina, strength (both physical and mental), technique and perhaps most important - reduction of unforced errors. And you could even sense some glimpses of tactical discipline.
Just watched her match against CM: Outrageous deception almost every other point, I have lost count of how many times Carolina Marin was completely deceived. Very reminiscent of the late LD, imo. Just lovely to watch. I'm still waiting for a compilation of her best deception.
LD's latest style of play is what I meant. Before he changed his style of play he was playing a very offensive game.
Hmmm.... just had a look at the World Rankings and the way I see it, TTY will be #1 next week. Can somebody do a double check and confirm this? If my calculations are right - maximum congratulations to TTY for a sensational season!
TTY was on fire in Hong Kong. Amazing performance!! Had she done that in Rio, she could have won a medal..
I bet Taiwan Badminton Association are kicking themselves now that she beaten the Olympic Gold Medallist and Olympic Silver medallist.
I only remember his explanation for being absent for a year after winning Olympic gold in London. He likes to spend more time with his wife, XXF. He is such a family man and loving husband.
I think it was in the final of the Singapore Open when he conceded a walkover against Chen Jin, but I'm not sure.
Agree, but would add that she was superior at reading PVS's game yesterday. The lack of anxiety in her game is something we regular mortals can only aspire to. smautf
