I use volleyball shoes. Never had an issue with the higher/thicker soles, but that is definitely true. I currently use the tornados. Awesome show (after broken in) but they are heavy. Very cushioned. I also have some wave Z. Lightweight, but bare bones cushioning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Among the Wave Fang series, would the Wave Fang Pro be the best among the bunch? Is it also a wide-cut shoe? Does it beat the Wave Fang SS?
Been using a mizuno wave lightning z2 for a couple of months now and no complaints whatsoever. Great for lateral movements, cushioning superb and hugs my feet pretty well. My only complaint is that it is a tad too tight in the forefoot area...
Thanks for the suggestion butt I'm already fixated in the Wave Fang series. I'm just not sure which one of them is for me. Please help?
SS is like their de-facto shoe now, with: Mid ankle cut, Wide toe 4E Fit for narrow 2E, And the normal SS. Pro is the most expensive, all leather upper shoe construction. Smash is just another shoe I guess? Haven't read the blurb about it. Not sure why you'd PM me for this and reply to the thread, kevin....
Sorry esppy, I just wanted your opinion on this so I figured PM'ing you. I am all for the Pro but it isn't for wide feet as it is only 2E, right? Like I said in my earlier post, I'm coming from a Mizuno Wave Fang (7KM-08009) and that shoe served me well (which is a 3E shoe).
They suspiciously didn't mention it, but according to Mizuno's logic, 3E is wide. Looking at the specs, the SS FIT matches the pro, in that they didn't mention its whatever 6mm extra (EEE equivalent). So I can only deduce its being 2E? Hmm. Just play safe and get a SS red/white normal, olympic colors or the Mid cut ankle if you're itchy I guess..
I see. In the Mizuno JP website, the Fang Pro has a 2E tag. So if I understand it correctly, the SS normal is 3E? What do you mean "mid cut ankle if I'm itchy"? I thought Badminton shoes shouldn't be mid cut because it would be dangerous for lateral movements? Is the mid cut ankle 3E as well?
Lin Dan was wearing mid cut li-ning shoes when he won the 2012 Olympics gold.......having said that, I wear normal low cut court shoes myself......
Fair enough. So using the instructions in this site, I can say that my width is 3.9". I'm using a US 9 (27cm) Yonex SBH-02 currently and that has a thumb width allowance in the front of the left shoes (my left foot is the longer one but my right foot is the wider one). With those information, what shoe size and shoe width size am I looking for in a Wave Fang?
Yeah but I read somewhere that it would be better to go 0.5cm more than a Yonex if you're getting a Mizuno. Is that true?
Yes. It is recommended to get larger size for Mizuno. For example, I use Yonex/Victor 27.5 cm but for Mizuno I use 28.0 cm
And with that you get the same amount of allowance? And regarding my foot width, did my measurement help in knowing what my preferred width should be?
Yes I got the same amount of space for my forefoot. As regards foot Width, No explanation provided by Mizuno or Yonex in their website. But I found the reference for sports shoe guide for Asics. It is in Japanese and you should do google for translating it. You may or may not trust the sizing guide / references as contained in the Asics website. I interested of rubber of sole. Right - mizuno tornado (i forgot number of the model), left - asics blade-5. If blade will tear about 2-3 mm and they is still (compared to Tornado) will be orange rubber, their gripping will be still good quality or tacky will dissapered? And how identify at different shoes - how long rubber sole will be tacky?
I play in the tornado x. I've been using them since February. Very little wear on them. Still extremely tacky and grippy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The XG Rubber on the Mizunos are supposed to be extra grip. This is definitely the case in the Wave Fang series. The Tornado and other series with the Grey or other types coloured soles are there for durability as an overlay and don't seem to be as grippy. Maybe, because they are also slightly higher and less flexible, there isn't as much pressure being pressed down by my toes(?) My RX are definitely tight with no wiggle room to lift my toes up at all and hitting the rubber toe drag portion. Hence, I have black toes and hate wearing these shoes but love the grip. I also found my last 2 pair to not have a "Round Sole" type transition from heal to toe, but would probably go with the Pro or the SS as it seems just a little more room in the toes.
