or maybe the rest of the world has caught up to China and they aren't as dominant as they were in 2012?

does your theory mean that korea also purposely won one medal? I don't see the point for any nation to purposely lose at the olympics, what would be the advantage of that?

Oh, well. No wonder their XD performance in the run up to the Olympics was already shaky, emotional problems affecting their game. On hindsight, the pair shouldn't go to Rio for XD, let Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin take their place instead.

And Zhao Yunlei's last-minute decision to drop out of WD deprived Tian Qing of her Olympic quest and even ended her (TQ's) career.

That's what I call unforeseen circumstances or extraneous factors affecting Team CHN at the Rio Olympics.

Even if it's not done on purpose, it's humanly hard for anyone to cooperate so closely with someone you've an emotional issue with. It's not business rivalry where commercial considerations are overriding, not personal issues.

Guess ZYL will be retiring soon after this.. I will miss her. Its too bad she didnt get the gold medal with ZN as they are a really good pair despite breaking up for quite some time, they still show chemistry and professionalism on court, did not let their emotion get to them. Looks like they are still good friends, seeing ZN hugging ZYL after their match.

Would someone like to sum it up in English? Would be much appreciated.
Would be interesting how the triangle affair started... :-S

To be honest: I totally would understand if ZYL had quit WD on purpose. I'd probably do the same... Why bother with someone who betrayed you? You love your passion, but doing it with someone who you deeply hate? No way you would and should do that...
And losing on purpose is not wise as we've seen at the Olympics in London.

As I posted earlier in another thread, so apparently ZYL and ZN married 2 years ago. After the marriage, ZN went to bed with Tian Qing (ZYL's WD partner). It can be seen TQ did not even look at ZYL for a long period of time during their matches. Her performance suddenly dropped, and it was only a matter of time both ZYL/ZN and TQ/ZYL lost matches continuously.

    Really sucks to be ZYL.

Wow, if that is true, then truly kudos for ZYL to be able to continue performing her professional job of practicing and playing with both ZN and TQ for as long as she did. So sad for all involved.

What I've heard is different than ZYL's take on the story, but either way we shouldn't believe everything we read. I suggest we don't speculate in players personal lives. We are fans of them as badminton players and should act and judge accordingly
