well, we had the thread where everyone post the size of their forearm. we can do one for the calves too.
Haha not to worry. You can always make up for less agile movement with positioning made possible by vast experience Also you dont have to worry that you'll die if you dont eat for 3 days, like some members apparently have to
Is there a difference between a compression knee high socks like http://www.cepcompression.com/men/socks/mens-progressive-compression-socks versus calf compression sleeves like http://www.cepcompression.com/men/sleeves/mens-progressive-calf-sleeves-2-0? From my point of view, they both achieve the same thing compressing the calves (which are the main muscles), or am I wrong? Are you meant to wear the compression socks over normal badminton socks? Or just the compression sock alone? If alone, then I have answered my own question but wouldn't mind hearing from those who have used them before. Thank you. Justin.
They basically do the same where the calves are concerned, yes. Some if the full socks compress the feet as well, some dont (afaik). Sleeves are my choice because a) I dont want compression on my feet and b) they dont need to be washed every single time you wear them.
No point in getting these if you don't suffer from muscle fatigue over and above what's normal. I bought some 2XU compression socks and couldn't make out any difference to my levels of muscle fatigue or recovery times. I suspect you'd have to be playing and training every day for these things to have any noticable benefit. Otherwise, I reckon it's mostly the placebo effect of feeling 'supported'.....you know.....like going 'commando' vs wearing jocks.
I would think that the degree of benefit would vary from person to person since the effect of compression would be different. You may be right that someone who trains on a regular basis would experience noticeable benefits, however I don't think compression is merely a "placebo effect". Prevention is always better than cure.
Then why not wear compression everywhere if it's so universally beneficial? Nobody even knew compression socks existed until JOJ started wearing them, and bandminton players are such Sheeple they'll just adopt literally anything a pro does. I remain highly skeptical.
I used them before any Badminton pro did typically when my calves are starting to tire and ache a little in competition (if they do that in training, I simply stop )
without the socks, how long do you usually feel the effect of muscle fatigue after a session of badminton?
People do wear compression socks when they travel via air for enhancing blood circulation and some other conditions. And it is medically proven to stimulate blood flow and reduce muscle fatigue. You see lot of basketball players with compression clothing and other athletes as well. So, it must have some benefits.
I've had physio therapists recommend them specifically for my calves cramping from badminton. There's definitely something to them. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
It is recommended especially for pregnant women and individuals with vericose veins. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
I've heard that too. I will say I feel like they make a big difference. Never had a bad cramping issue while wearing them, but it's frequent without them. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
