Maybe, but for such an experienced player as LCW, maybe not. It's his overall mental state, losing confidence when Chen Long kept throwing everything back and attacking him more than he used to do in the past.

By the way, congratulations to you, Alan Y, you're a brave one to pick Chen Long for gold and unwavering in your support for him. Well done.

So close yet so far:(:( I hope LCW does not beat up himself. He lost to the better player and maybe Lin Dan will also face the same fate if he enter the final. Chen Long is just too good. Bravo to the 34 years old LCW who is still able to beat other players who are much younger than him. 3 Olympics final is not an easy task:):)

CONGRATULATIONS TO CHEN LONG FOR THE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL!

VERY SORRY LEE CHONG WEI... I can feel your extreme disappointment for failing again to win the Olympic Gold Medal (and words will in no way be able to describe your sad feeling...), frankly I just wish Chen Long to win the gold.

Somehow I feel the fate is rather cruel to Lee, to play and rise to the stardom at the same era as the Super Dan who ever blocks him at the crucial junctions... and when he finally succeeded to pass the fading out Super Dan Gate at the Rio 2016, yet another Great Dragon Gate is standing firmly on his path, and he once again fails to pass through the ultimate gate to meet his shiniest glory....

Nonetheless the badminton world will reckon the three of them: Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long as the Supreme Trinity of the badminton world in the information era of the 21st century!!

It will be very difficult for badminton realm to have another Trinity crossing at the same era in future after the passing of the current one. As badminton fans, we are all fortunate to have opportunity to witness The Supreme Trinity in live actions!

My deep RESPECT to the Trinity for showing the highest levels of badminton plays....

P.S: And to BCers please kindly show no foul words to the TRINITY ;) without the three the modern badminton will never be the same!

Too bad for Malaysia, this year they were so close in getting gold in multiple disciplines (MS, MD, and XD) but ended up as 2nd place for all three events.

IMHO, it has a lot do do with their mental game because we can all see that MAS players are very talented but time after time they end up letting their nerves get to them (OLY, WC, TC...).

I hope Morten Frost will fix this problem.

both LD & LCW used up all energy at yesterday's SF... and both lost today... sad for both, particularly for LCW...

Isn't that the order standing on the podium ? Man, why take it so hard?

Written words alone often fail to convey the message, the tone of voice, the facial expression, the gestures and body language are all missing to give a fuller picture to prevent misunderstanding. Communication often breaks down when we can't see and hear each other directly. I meant no ill-will at all, believe me, even when I occasionally get carried away.

    good point.
only if he dropped to No 3 then he needed to face LD or CL, not both.
again, sack the coaches. except Henderan, he's good.

That is why I want him as rank as seeded no 2 in Olympics. :)
Anyway LCW is still our hero. We are so proud of you

today's LCW match with CL actually less exciting. I prefer the LCW LD match, but we all know good things will also come to an end.
My appreciation for LD and LCW for making badminton sports exciting. LD is especially charismatic, it will take a long time before we find such an exciting person again.

LCW has less stamina today because of his match against LD yesterday that went to 3 sets, and a 20-20 tie. LD also lost stamina from yesterday. You can tell in LD's game because he didn't have the energy at all to smash/attack Viktor Axelsen often. LCW had to pace his game against CL. I think by the 2nd set, LCW started to get tired. CL looked more fresh in the 2nd set. Don't forget, LCW is 33 years old. He can't play at a high pace at that age, with endless smashes, throughout the entire tournament at his age.
