o.k., LCW won it fair and square, he was the better player yesterday. LD game was mostly reactive through out, knew he would be in trouble using such strategy.
I am LCW fan also lets hope he win tonight, so he can be elevated to goat status.

The biggest failure was the Korean team. if they keep their cool and play like in the SS they would have a better result. feel sad for LYD YYS, they have gone to some mental classes preparing for the Olympics. it shows that shear strength will not guarantee win in the Olympics.

fu haifeng should be given "goat status". not as popular as LD but he achieved more with 2 gold 1 silver.

it is a failure for the Chinese team in this Olympics. no point listening to excuses and soap opera. probably LYB has lost touch on what is going on, on the ground. imagine the women pairs selected for the Olympics, it's a joke.
lets hope they come back stronger.

agree. he wouldn't have made that incredible save at 19-20 if he didn't care.

but the unforced error at 20-20 was really uncharacteristic of LD and after watching the match point rally a few times, I think LD undoing was his over confidence. He tried to catch LCW on a late drop on the straight line, too committed and LCW obviously saw it at the corner of his eyes and did a cross instead and by the time LD realize it, he was totally wrong footed.

what a finish to a career.

you sounds like Marin is invincible...

the fact is, apart from OG, she hasn't win any title

    2014 : 1 title (WC)
    2015 : 6 titles
    2016 : 1 title

2014 and 2016, she is just a mini version of Ji Xinpeng

The Malaysian XD and MD did the country proud with their silver medals and they should be very proud of themselves. Congratulations. They came to this OG not as medal contenders and showed the world what they were really made of. Unfortunately, the Indonesians were just too good this time for the Malaysian XD but that does not take anything away from CPS/GLY's historic achievement. The MD final on the other hand, was different in that both sides were almost equally matched, a testament to how far GVS/TWK had come in these Games. Unfortunately, this is also the reason they are "crucified" by some.

Yes, all four players should be lauded and the country appreciative of their sacrifices and accomplishments. Unfortunately, due to the way GVS/TWK lost, some fans of Malaysian badminton will be critical of, and perhaps even unkind to the pair. I think that is not because they do not appreciate GVS/TWK's achievement but because they rue what might have been. Folks will talk about how two service errors and a mishit smash during the most critical juncture of the match cost GVS/TWK and Malaysia the gold. I just hope the criticism will be short-lived, that we not dwell on the "loss" and remember these Rio Games as Malaysia's greatest haul of medals in badminton ever in the OG. In fact, it is the greatest haul of medals for the country overall. Don't forget the silver in synchro diving and the bronze in the keirin.

Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong, hold your heads up high. Syabas.

P.S. One other reason the XD is not crucified is that GLY is prettier than GVS and TWK. :)

They know each other way before they met their wives. I have attached the photos in LCW and LD threads. Go and see them.

agree, minus the Uber and Sudirman Cup which she lose to Michele Li in Sudirman Cup level 2 :p

imagine if Marin represent China, how China can win the trophy if she lose to M Li in level 2 competition while doing double duty ?

want to compare to GOAT Li Lingwei ?
100% winning records in Uber Cup final even with double duty :p

last time you say, current MS era is the strongest, but after I say, this era still dominated by old player like LD and LCW, and what's your respond ?
    nothing.

now you say, this era is the strongest ?
    another false argument...

Zhang Ning at 33 y.o. still ranked higher than Wang Yihan (20 y.o.) and Saina (18), and then win the Olympics in 2008

now WYH already 28, almost 29, but she still world #2. what you want to say ?

the more ironic, ZN is just a mediocre in Susi / Ye / Gong ZC era...while Susi can't win a single title in Li Lingwei's era...so,

it is clear which era is the strongest ?

win it first before we can talk

    I don't know how CM > LLW,

as LLW still the most successful WS in WC history with 2 - 1 - 1 (Gold, Silver, Bronze)...all when WC still held every 2 years

LLW holds the record of being the only WS to win a medal in every edition of World Championships

    Marin ?
    ah, no need to tell
just check WC 2013 in Guangzhou :D

without fact, everyone can say their idol is the best, include me.

without fact, I also can say, Jiang Yanjiao, He Bingjiao, and Dai Yun is even greater than Ratchanok / Tine Baun / Susi S / Carolina Marin.

    do you agree ?

    last but not least
Zhang Ning with 2 OLY gold and 1 WC has 3 major titles, all when WC still once in 2 years

Marin, only 1 - 1 to be fair lol :p

What I fail to understand is the relatively low performance of Okuhara. She did better then in the past 6 months and retrieved some of her grit, but still under her level when she dominated outrageously WS by her speed and attack. If she can get back the form she had at SSFinal, Marin could not compete.
