This Olympics, of course, the only representatives left. The Olympics, definitely not, they have won several in the past.

Wonder how MAS MD Goh/Tan will handle the pressure when it's their turn to do the job.

    Congrats Indonesia!

There was no contest here. Malaysia didn't bring their game to the court today. They were so fired up against China but all those fire somehow not there today.

Congrats to Indonesia!!! The INA pair didn't allow the MAS pair to play their game. Also congrats to Malaysia for their first XD silver medal, hope the MD and MS brings the much anticipated gold to MAS.

Is the medal ceremony going to happen soon or quite a bit later?

Indeed ..... just goes to show how big match experience can make a huge difference.

Congrats Indonesia - an apt gift for the country's 71st Independence Day.

the only letdown is the poor attendance in the stadium throughout the competition.

Maybe you mean LD is in the best physical condition for his age at 32 years old? For the number of smashes LD did against Srikanth, LCW looks to be more fit than LD and LCW is one year older.

I counted roughly 2 power smashes from LD in the 3rd set. I don't even know if LD did a single power smash in the 2nd set.

The point is, in a tight 3rd set, LD can afford to up the tempo and execute more power smashes and play more aggressive to save himself in the 3rd set. But LD did not, and was lucky to win the 3rd set. Note that Thursday is a day of rest so it's illogical that LD can't up the tempo and play aggressive in the 3rd set, even for 5 or 6 points, to seal the win. The only reason why LD can't up the tempo and play aggressive in the 3rd set for even 5 or 6 points (given that Thursday is a day of rest) is probably because LD is out of gas.

Some people will say that LD wanted to save his energy for his match with LCW. However, I doubt that because it doesn't take him that much more energy to play aggressive, up the tempo, and use his power smashes for 5 or 6 points in a tight 3rd set. Instead, what we saw was Srikanth playing aggressive and pushing the tempo on LD but Srikanth simply made some errors at the end.

I don't doubt that LD's plan was to use up as much of Srikanth's energy as possible. But I think that LD reached the limits of his own stamina and that's why he played defense throughout the 2nd and 3rd set.

BTW, LD's fitness explains why he has done poorly in all the SS over the last year. It might be related to his poor performance at the 2015 WC too. But at 32 years of age, it's expected. He just doesn't have the stamina he once had - nothing to be ashamed of at 32 years old.

I'm happy for Natsir that she finally gets gold and beat the defending champions on the way. She was unlucky 8 years ago when she had to face LYD playing in god mode, but even though it was an easy final this time, gold is still gold :)

Yeah, that "poor attendance" made so much noise, the Service Judge's fault calls cannot be heard by the players or the Umpire.

Congrats Indonesia. Total domination start to finish.

Not bad Msia. Considering that mix double specialist was non existent before goh Liu ying/chan peng soon comes along. Not that long ago, whenever xd is needed in team event, they just picked one player from MD and WD each. Remember Chin Ee Hui/KKK combination?
