wow great badminton! Congratz to all the winners and finalists Big congratulation to Ratchanok and Sony Dwi Kuncoro! Fantastic SS hattrick in 3 weeks!!! Ratchanok stamina seems boost 5x.. The Power of LOVE ? And Welcome back Sony WOW! Fabulous games! Fabulous badminton! Fabulous won! Miss the great player he is. Hope to see more from him~~ If only we can see him in the olympic ^__o
Sony proves rackets actually don't matter that much, nice to see another racket beside Yonex and Victor at the finals.
The Power of Love ........ ...... is never fully understood in words. So perhaps it is apt, for the pictures to do the talking. You see .... there was once a forgotten hero, who suffered a series of setbacks ....... ...... but for the love of one woman ..... ...who is always giving support, in health .... ...... and in pain ...... Always believing, and awaiting ..... ..... in anticipation, that .... ..... her hero would rise again .... ....... majestic and true .... .... Sealed In Loving Embrace, For All Eternity
Unfortunately I missed out the WD prize ceremony presentation. I were at the media center Hopefully you are fine with Sony's photo too? --> here you go: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...al-post-match-interviews-with-players.163420/
He might be right for his win some 6 years ago here may not be of SS status yet. (?) Sorry, my mistake. BadMania has given the statistics in his earlier post.
Today's finals met with a relatively good attendance despite the earlier elimination of a number of 'star' players like LD, CL, JOJ, VA, CM, WYH, LYD/YYS, Towi/Butet, etc. Indonesian supporters came in full force to chant "Soni, Soni" and "IN-DO-NE-SIA" which were well orchestrated by their indomitable cheerleader who pranced about behind the Premier Section aisle holding the Indonesian flag high and waving. Not a few Singapore BC friends must have been present too, but may not have joined our small gathering at the nearby Leisure Park food court. However, this evening Jennifer came by and kept us updated. She also attended the Malaysia Open last week. [/ATTACH]
@Loh - your timing to capture Sony's loving embrace must have been off by a few hundred milliseconds ........ Need to work on your, ahem, shutter speed.
sorry, didn't read the post on the gathering or i would have attended and get to know more badminton lovers here. looking forward to next year open. now suffering badminton withdrawal syndrome on my first day back to work. lol
Bulletins of Finals: 1) WS - Ratchanok created a history for as first woman to win 3 consecutive titles in 3 consecutive wereks. Sun Yu tried to be patient in the second game but could not. She lost the second game and the momentum which she gained in the first game. Sun Yu has improved a lot recently. 2) XD - Ko/Kim defeated Ma Jin/xuchen in straight games. Ko/Kim played a controlled game. 3) WD - Unfortunate, one of the japanese pair was injured during semifinals. Infact they were the only pair/individual who is the top seed left in the finals. Easy gold medal for Nithya/gresi 4) MS - Sony played patience game. No hurry @ any point of time and took his 5th SS title. SWH played good second game , but Sony dominated the game 1 and game 3. 5)MD - Though Japanese MD fighted back in game 2, they were clueless in game 1. Chinese MD showed master class. Left and right combination did really made the difference. Japanese pair misjudged many times , playing to the forehand side of FU and paid the price. Great tournament and as usual, Singapore did not disappoint us with her surprises. Let us wait for one more day to reach China for much more exciting matches ahead.
Probably his coach tell him to just play save, Sony is tired already Nice caption, you remind me of one saying "Behind every great man there's a great woman" esp during this final match the wife literally behind him .
Ah yes ... that is another story in itself. One not so fine day, on an overcast and rainy Saturday afternoon, a little girl by the name of Misaki Matsutomo got herself injured in the ankle. Miraculously, she managed to win her doubles match. Nonetheless, by the next day ..... .... a formal apology and a spot of bowing had to be made ......... Despite their good fortune, Greysia Polii was ever so gracious to compliment their world no 1 opponents ...... .... and so the prize presentations began ...... first with the plaque ...... followed by those huge fat cheques ..... .... and the Final Pose from the top WD combinations of the week!!!
Player of the tournament ..... ..... had to go to the Thailand sensation, Ratchanok Inthanon. Only 21, she wrested 3 SS titles back to back over a 3 week period, despite making us Old Airport BC Crew's predictive analysis look foolish by dropping the 1st game despite having control of the proceedings ...... a good indication of her return to form after a difficult last 2 years. Here are her most striking poses ..... including her Miss Colombia gaffe at the tailend of the match. Enjoyy!!!! The confident poise of a World Junior and Senior Champion .... Let the mind games begin ....... ..... and so the 2013 World Champ unleashes her trademark winning dropshot ...... Just look at her, ahem, elegant and clean underarms ...... .... and so the Chinese bench are thrown into crisis of epic proportions ...... ..... while the Champion presents another striking pose, one leg up ...... ..... final instructions on how to celebrate her victory ....... (to be continued)
(continued from previous posting) Nobody told Miss May that she should not start celebrating ...... and so the Colombia syndrome struck again. ..... the Miss Colombia syndrome ....... ...... which was luckily overturned and Miss May is declared the undisputed winner!!!
