It is formally stated and he should be punished according to the rules

4.1.2 Before, during and after any match does not comply with the goodwill formalities such as thanking Technical Officials, shaking hand with opposing players, etc. Players must thank their opponents and umpire before leaving the field of play to celebrate with their coach or the crowd.

    1. Any player who commits any offence defined in Regulations 3 to 5 shall be deemed to have breached this Code. Breaches of the Code constitute the basis for disciplinary action against the player.

Imagine LCW snatching shuttle from LD's hands or vice versa. How would it look like.

I agree with renbo, shaking hands shouldn't be made compulsory. Players should be free to make that choice.Well,if you behave like a thug,I won't shake hands either.

MAS vs. INA often can be a very tense match. Kevin is a thug :( You can excuse him since he is that good. It is called a mind game.

I think both TWK/GVS are thugs too.

GVS looks like a guy you wouldn't wanna mess with... TWK looks like a harmless hamster most of the time!

I have mixed feeling about this type of rule even though it has good gesture to end the game. In NBA, players from losing team usually just run back into the locker room, not in the mood to congratulate for losing effort which is understandable. The game ending hand-shaking option should leave to the players, IMHO.

Sorry mate, but mind games should be limited to mind games only.

Imagine if slaps, punches were exchanged. Grabbing each other by throat ?

I just realized that both Lin Dan and Lee CW are or will be playing three SS/PSS tournaments in a row back-to-back, viz, IND Open SS here, MAS PSS next week, and the SIN SS the following week. Go figure. No wonder.

Haha I did not see your post before. Thanks though.

I finally saw Xue Song - Momota match. I feel really bad for Xue Song, I really hope this does not end his career, or make mental trauma for him.

So pitiful to see Xue Song getting injured today and being pulled out using a stretcher. I sincerely hope that Xue Song will have a speedy recovery and get well soon.

I was there in the stadium watching the match when xue song got injured. .that was a frightening scene, sport can be so evil sometimes. .I felt for xue song and almost cried seeing him down crying hard on the court. .he himself couldn't believe it more or less and that made him cry I think. .I hope he recovers soon.

So lucky of you to be at the stadium to watch the matches life. I watched that MS match live through my laptop. Just like you I cried too. I felt so sad for Xue Song. I hope his injury is not serious.

I don't think it would ever be near the top of the agenda for BWF to scrap a good sportmanship rule. There is no directly stated punishment like yellow card that equals fines etc, it just allows the a basis for action so they can be as liberal as they want with their enforcement making it a bit of a "gesture" rule anyway so no big deal. Was just correcting the thought that it was not formally stated.
