So in light of LD and possibly LCW using a ZF2 with no weight strips at the T, I thought I'd give it a go for myself.

Oh my God, what an improvement.

Where the racket felt sluggish and as if it were fighting itself, the racket felt responsive and faster. You loose some power with the modification, and the timing is altered, but I found it preferable.

I'd be very interested to see what the balance is like with no weight strips, and if without any, does it become a perfectly even balance stiff racket?

With this change I found wrist actions were easier, including clears and drops. Lifts and net game didn't suffer at all. Drives were a bit quicker, but the weight is now all at the end of the racket, making them a little tricky. But what did you expect from the ZF2? I personally found that without the racket fighting itself, my control was better in the rear court.

For the record, it was freshly strung with Li Ning N.01 at 30lbs, haribito style.

Perhaps what you like is a head heavy racquet a little more flex then the ZF2, thus you enjoyed the extra weight on the T?

renbo I removed the weight from the T. I felt that with it, the head was much less responsive. I've used an N90 and II briefly, and I have to say this setup is much closer to how those rackets feel.

@strad think of it etune now, you can remove the weights and replace them with normal grommets. Changes how it plays and feels.

Their's are probably bigger in frame area since their grommets are protruding out and not tucked into the frame.

I've seen 80ETN parts fitting the exact holes where they should go, on a ZSP. You can try tuning with other frames as well.

Charlie-SWUK Did you remove all strips of the ZF2 or just the bottom strips? I don't have an accurate enough scale to messure, but it seems like that these small strips don't add much weight?

esppy Where did you get these grommets at b5-b8? What pattern on the NRZS? It looks at the bottom pretty nice without skipping any hole and I have a guess. :)

The bottom grommets. I would reckon removing them took 3-4 grams off of the throat weight.

3-4 grams? I can't imagine because a whole ZFII grommet set weights 3g (include package). How do you define "throat weight"? Is it possible to measure?

3 to 4 grams??? Wow. But.. It will somehow be like Voltric 80 with stiffer shaft then.

    Mine's a 4U, but I can now understand why they'd use a 3U and make this modification.

The grommets are either Yonex AC416W-1 or AC416W-2. Slighting difference in width.
