LCW partnering LXR against CL with TTY in XD exhibition match at CBSL earlier this wk. Great to see LCW really having fun and enjoying his badminton. :D

LCW attributes his recent winning success to Hendrawan's new coaching, not others, like Frost.

Frost is not coaching LCW, he is the coaching director , a manager of sort of all the coaches. He gives directions and sets targets on the coaching but day to day coaching its Hendrawan. It is Frost who had assigned Hendrawan to LCW given that he was a former world champion and I think Frost wanted a change in style and new ideas.

Hitherto, LCW has been coached by Chinese and Malaysian methods and philosophies. A swift to Indonesian way of playing MAY just add an extra layer of unpredictability to his play.

As I remembered, he used in Japan Open 2016, then switched back to his new limited version.

LCW's game is no longer the quick powerful game anymore. He has the deceptive net, over the top cross court drop shot, ... You can sense it that he is calmer against LD and CL. He is going to be a beast next year. He will capture AE and OLY Game gold medal. I can see it. He will play only in selective SS Premier only per Hendrawan's instruction.

If we disregard psychological pressure, then I'd say you're right. But with his last results at the big events, I'm not too sure.

Agreed. Also it's weird to say a 33 year old is improving his game, especially with LCW, but he actually is.

Well LCW has said it has been tough under Hendrawan. I dont think he meant tough physically but mentally. To change the style you have been trained all these while at 33 years of age is tough. To break old habits is tough and gives you a lot of self doubt.

By the way havent yall notice that LCW's recent style has a Taufik or Joko'esque feel to it?

Not really, no. Taufik played very differently from what LCW has shown recently.

the biggest change i notice in LCW is his better psychological control of himself. unlike physical change which deteriorate with age, this improves with age. maybe it's not just hendrawan. maybe its his two young kids.
