We should be happy Lin Dan spoke out albeit cordial enough, as BWF will be just as concerned that the venue lives up to Olympic standards. The other Olympians should appreciate it too. As for knowing the city and the weather, Lin Dan has been to Rio once before, last year when he was the Laureus Sport ambassador. This time, it's the venue which directly affects the players which is of utmost concern. If everybody keeps quiet, out of courtesy or not wishing to offend, and implicitly accepts second-best arrangements, who benefits ? Why bother to fly all the way there for a third-rate tournament in the first place? Besides, I see it as Lin Dan not only speaking up for himself but also for all the Olympians, and for Yonex whom I believe is strongly bidding to be the Rio Olympics sponsor as well, just as they are the Rio GP sponsor.
For all we know, Lin Dan wearing that mismatched coloured Yonex shoes, one white, the other red, could be Yonex's idea to attract more attention to his shoes than the Li-Ning shirt he's wearing. Otherwise,I fail to understand how a fashion-conscious person like Lin Dan would do something so weird, not as if it's a fashion statement. You see, the racquet he is testing out, it's not so prominent it's Yonex, so what better way to draw attention to the Yonex logo on him than the shoes, seeing as the Li-Ning logo has to be on his shirt and shorts. Indeed, now everybody is talking about his Yonex shoes, much to the delight of Yonex. Just saying.
Exactly, otherwise Lin Dan would rather spend time with his family in China. I mean, 26 hours on the plane, plus another four hours waiting at the airport, and not going all the way there for a holiday, but playing for a low-end event where the ranking points and prize money are insignificant,if not meagre, what for ? I for one would die of boredom on the plane, if not there at the Rio GP. What about the return flight? Yuck.
Lin Dan:Totally focused on Badminton from now on. ''Starting with my training this winter (in the northern hemisphere) I will be working systematically. Next year, I will become totally focused on the competitions.Representing China is an honour for me'' http://www.rio2016.com/en/news/time...s-lin-dan-after-rio-2016-badminton-test-event
Lin Dan dissatisfied with Olympic Venue. Says the venue is not a formal Badminton venue.Too small with huge drift and strange shuttle flight. http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/badmin/2015-11-29/doc-ifxmazpa0451134.shtml
Yonex has been the Official Badminton Equipment Supplier for the Olympics since 1992 when the sport was added to the Olympic line-up.
I recall Wang Xin having said before that Lin Dan has difficulty getting to sleep on the plane. Such a long journey would certainly take a toll on him. I wonder how he fights jetlag across continents.
so LD says the venue can only hold 500 today. yet BWF claims that by 8 month's time, it will be expanded to 7000. hm....
Justin L This idea is common.... I was surprised because those were literally two different models that Lin Dan was wearing. It's like someone playing football wearing one nike and one adidas cleat.
Scott Evans wants to gain Cheap Popularity ??? I have searched the whole internet but couldn't find a single such news. Not even those Chinese/Malaysian websites are reporting it.Do You guys believe this could be true?
