Still there is no good motivation for doubles players... I started following badminton since 2012 and since then confusion of whom to pair has been prevailing... It's continuing continuing continuing...
what's happening in the doubles anybody, what about tan kim her and i also heard something like gopichand's new academy will cater to doubles players. .is that happening? i have high hopes from sikki reddy, i hope she gets a good partner to combine with.
Sikki reddy has a good game for sure, but like most Indian shuttlers lacks confidence in closing crunch matches. I hope in the IBL she gets to play with someone like a Jwala.
Can Indian juniors handle Malaysia this time!!!!!??? Last year we lost to them very narrowly 2-3!!!!!!!

Sameer verma won Bahrain International challenge 2015 by defeating Derek Wong of Singapore in the finals today.
Some worrying aspect about Indian badminton is that Junior Badminton might secure 8th place and its performance is highly unsatisfactory. We need good youngsters taking up this sport and reaching great heights in badminton. Take the case of Chinese they produce a lot of badminton players and there is an abundance of talent in China. Even in India we have full fledged badminton academy but still we managed to secure only 8th position. Need to look for players for the future. Apart from Saina & Sindhu we do not have any other player in the top 25.
A 9th place finish for India after beating second tier Korean team... next up individual events... I m looking forward for two men's doubles pairs and shivani...
Korean team was a joke this year!! Did they actually selected their bests? Or is it a sign of lack of competitiveness in the kor Jr... I personally expected India to do a lil better than 9th anywhere in 5/8 bracquet would've been satisfactory... Well all the best for the individual competition!! MD our best hope also we'll see our extra young MS shuttle's dueling against their more experienced opps from ROW
Saw the All India Men's Doubles final in Pune a couple of weeks back. The new pair of Shlok Ramchandran and Nandagopal Kidambi (Shrikant's elder brother) really impressed. They beat Akshay Dewalkar & Sanave Thomas 21-13, 21-16 in the final. Were in fact leading 20-13 in the second game also. The new partnership was forged due to an unfortunate injury and subsequent knee surgery of Shlok's regular partner Sanyam Shukla (They won the Mauritius Open this year). The Shlok-Nandu partnership seems promising. Especially with the 6'4 Shlok patrolling the baseline and the quick Nandu finishing at the net.
Shlok & Nandu might seem formidable in India but how are they placed compared to the International players? What we need is top quality International players who can take on the like of Mohammed Ahsan & the Chinese counter parts. India never had any quality doubles players in the top 10 category an indication that doubles is not given the top most priority. With the introduction of a new international coach exclusively for doubles there might be some changes but that cannot happen overnight. The new coach needs to groom players from the grass root level groom them to become top quality international players. India has got tremendous potential but we need to tap those talents and bring them on the right track. BAI has taken some steps and is a case of "BETTER LATE THAN NEVER"
^Formidable that would be overrating.. Watch out for MA/SBR they have improved a lot yes they are neither naturally talented nor has perfect badminton built but with time they are getting better and better if not top10 they should break top15 soon
Spotting of talent and grooming them should be top most priorities for BAI. We cannot be basking on the glories of Saina, Sindhu & Srikanth. We need players for the future and that can be done by spotting talent at grass root level with the requithered skill set and physical attributes to become a top quality badminton player. Take for a example a child who is tall & well built as compared to other kids needs to be brought into Badminton at a very young age. if they kid shows interest and special skills need to invest on those kids for the future. Its just like how they do it in China, once they know that the kid has a special talent towards a sport they keep honin their skills and make them top international players. Chen Long is a classic example of how talent is spotted at a young age groomed.
